Hope this doesn't get me in trouble but ill say it honestly. I know brad and his family. I had a long relationship with his cousin. I was told his dad is the source to most of brads problems. As far as how good he was...high school he was awesome.at lsu...he was horrible
Wow, you dug deep to find this one. Hard to say what Brad's problems were, but on the field he didn't come close to living up to the hype. Hopefully he is doing well in whatever he chose to do after LSU.
This is right, Winey came in to shutdown the outside rush. Played a great game with the clubbed hand. Brad was one of the higher ranked OL to come out of the state of LA. ever. Could have went anywhere. In the same class.... DL Kenderick Allen, Bogalusa, La. (Bogalusa) TE Jason Baggett, Baytown, Texas (Lee) LB Chris Cooper, Harvey, La. As I recall, this was an excellent class on paper, but not much when it came time to put it on the field. We were supposed to have an instant o-line from this group, but Sale was the only one who seemed to approach his potential (asterick - Wynne was an early exit-medical). Dawson, McConathy and Cooper were supposed to be studs on defense who produced very little. Reed and Lavalais were the only standouts from this class, though James and Allen were solid players. Robinson and Green had some moments, but were not consistent.
Remember K. Allen sign a few days after signing day. Baggett moved from TE to OL. Forehand went back to Miss. Dawson is coaching football. Howard Green got a Super Bowl Ring last yr. Solomon Lee is also coaching football. Josh Reed is back at LSU, finishing up. Lavalais, this was his first year signing, he would sign every year for the next two.
So why the re-sufacing of an almost 7 year old thread? There has to be something going on. Someone has an agenda.
Adam McConathy never played a down for LSU. The guy's father was a total head case. He was in the Baton Rouge sports bars all summer bragging about how his kid would start as a true freshman. Then about 2 weeks into August camp, when it became apparent that it wasn't going to happen, he pulled his son out of LSU and transferred him to Texas. Adam sat out a year and then played a couple of uneventful seasons before getting pissed off again and he ended up transferring to Louisiana Tech where he finished in undistinguished style. If his overbearing father had stayed at home and let his son live his own life, he might have been a star at LSU. Instead, he never quite caught on anywhere.
Red - dead-on right. I call high school games on the radio and have seen every West Monroe team in action every year from 1995 till now. The Rebs' 1997 and 1998 defenses were two of the best defenses I've ever seen in all my days calling high school football. McConathy was a stud at West Monroe, Mr. Football in the state, and one of the first of a long-line of great players to come out of WMHS. He should've been a star at LSU and you're right his dad completely ruined him.
