A rematch is certainly more likely after this crazy weekend, when we and Arkansas were the only top teams to truly TCB. Still, I think OSU or Va Tech still have a shot if the voters want two conference champions playing for the title. Va Tech would take a beating rivaling that of their '07 beatdown if they had to meet us. All that being said, the biggest winner of the weekend's chaos actually is Arkansas. If they were to beat us, they would go to the BCSNCG (assuming a win over UGA.)
See Nick Saban's quote from 03 about playing in the BCS Championship game when you don't play or win your conference Championship game. I would have no problem playing Bama again if it wasn't the fact that you guys will be rewarded by losing to LSU at home if allowed to play in this game. Generally the better sporting teams with better records get a bye the first week or series. This would be wrong but I acknowledge it might happen anyway. Heck, who knows this year, the way this weekend went, LSU could lose to Arkansas but I don't think we will. Alabama could also lose to Auburn. Its far from over...
If LSU somehow misses the CCG you will forget it quick enough as well. The only job the BCS has is to reward the two best teams to assure the most competitive game possible. No one is debating who those two teams are. Frankly, even if Arky got you Friday, I doubt the voters would forget LSU either. These two teams have been most dominate and the BCS system will continue to reconize it.
No SD, I don't. But this inquiring mind wants to know. If LSU misses the CCG would you be interested in playing Bama for the NC, please?
