figured had to be something like that. even the guys on Sun Sports pronounced it Hi-Del. most of them crews get together with SIDs to make sure they pronounce names right and get background info. But down here, it's alway pronounced Hay-Del
Yeah, I have some relatives "down there" in Houma who pronounce it the french way. My mom was commenting during the game about it being pronounced wrong too. Don't know why his family pronounces it the way they do. Just another person bashing Hawthorne though. In actuality, he is pronouncing it as he should in this instance.
way to geaux tigers! on to the supers! kinda nice. the old box going out hosting a super, and the new box getting broken in its first year hosting a super! :thumb:
I think it's funny...the discussion of French vs English pronounciation because my last name is Herbert...He R bert and not Hebert. My name has been mispronounced my whole life and I'm always explaining that my last name is German and not French. The greatest thing someone ever told me was by Jervis Autin, the late Mayor of Golden Meadow... I'll never forget it. When I was first introduced to him, I was explaining how my last name had an extra letter in the middle and was not French, etc. and the whole time he was looking at me like I was crazy with a very exaggerated perplexed look on his face. When I finished, he just smiled and said (in his beautiful Cajun accent) "Mais Steve, it's bad enough you don't know how to spell your own name...I'm not gonna let you mis pronounce it !!" We smiled at each other and I said "I'm just glad my name isn't Shmitt !!".
