Incorrect. Everyone gets 5 to play 4, and he'd have to sit out a year obviously. He hasn't used a redshirt year yet.

See above. That's Toney Douglas' profile. He transferred to FSU after his freshman year at Auburn, redshirted, and played 3 more years at FSU.

i agree that he isnt ready for the nba (and its tough to see how he would ever fit), but he's graduated, got a kid and has talked about leaving. i wouldnt be shocked if he decided to go make $60k/yr in turkey.

This is sort of an unrelated hoops story, but SEC and players related nonetheless.

    It's announced today that:

    1. Nick Calathes is declaring for the NBA draft, but not hiring an agent. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4028612 :hihi:

    2. Georgia is rumored to be after Mizzou's coach Mike Anderson (as is Memphis, if JCal leaves). Although, it's unlikely M.A. goes anywhere.

    3. Kentucky's pursuit of JCal continues, but now, JCal is "sleeping" on it. Could UK be rebuffed again (i.e., failed attempts at Rick Barnes and others the last time around)?

    4. If JCal goes to UK, he will be reported the highest paid hoops coach in the land. Higher than the current highest paid, coach--Billy D. Mike Anderson currently makes $650,000 per at Big 12 Missouri, after making the Elite 8, he stands to get an extension at $1.3M per. Rumor is that GA may pay near $2M per?

It's just interesting, as we consider the SEC coaches and the players that those coaches recruit. First, for a football conference, the SEC certainly has some big time $$s to hire them some hoops coaches. Second, how quickly the world can turn. Billy D made his money essentially on a great recruiting class (it now seems and not necessarily his coaching, right?), as the fab 5 from the recent NCs clearly were more important to an otherwise mostly up, but many times down, Billy D career at UF. Now, you've got a star PG on an otherwise very talented but young UF team, which is likely one of the SEC east favorites, that wants to test the waters, perhaps a year early.

Where does this all lead me to? Well, I'm commending LSU for going out and getting Trent Johnson, I guess. He's a rock solid coach, who isn't in the limelight, and just does his job. He's probably a steal at his $1.2M per (or whatever it is), and he is out there recruiting good, solid players that want to play at LSU for the long-haul. Is that a bad thing? It may be sort of a rebuilding year next year, but let's keep the big picture in mind, folks.

:geauxtige:geauxtige LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A PART OF THE TRENT JOHNSON ERA.

p.s. We used to bash brady for his players leaving, let's just keep it in perspective. It happens everywhere... hopefully, less so at LSU now.

Well, the coaching news continues to dominate the college hoops world, along side the Final Four. As it pertains to our world, the following headlines have some reach to Tigertown.

Bruce Pearl agrees to renegotiate and structure a six-year deal to keep him in the SEC (was rumored to be on Memphis' list).

Georgia goes to Nevada to pick up, oddly enough, a Trent Johnson disciple in Mark Fox. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4037951 Funny, you have to be a good coach if folks want to start hiring your disciples, right?

And, Tim Floyd decides to stay at USC and spurn both Arizona and also Memphis (who approached Tim).

All the while, things are quiet on the LSU front. No news of big recruits, and the staff is out on the street (busy I hope).

looks like the chances of the tigers having a better season have increased.

not only has ole miss lost malcolm white, but david huertas is skipping his sr season to go to puerto rico.

lsu plays them at least twice a year. cant hurt (anything but the rpi)
