The thought is that with a month to prepare, offenses can significantly alter their gameplan from the season and leave defenses hanging. And most of the time, bowl games are shootouts because of that. This year has been a little lower-scoring than normal, but that's because a lot of these teams have just had 14-18 days off between games. It's when you get later down the road the scoring starts.
