I thought it was a cheap move by the BYU coaches with the game in hand late in the 4th quarter. They put in the backup with 4 minutes left in the game and they were up by 24. He throws a deep pass that got BYU down to the one yard line. They scored on the next play.
Most coaches would tell the backups to run out the clock in that situation. BYU obviously didn't. There's an old saying about what goes around comes around. I hope BYU gets to experience it.
It's stupid and pointless to send in the backup QB to only hand the ball off. He learns nothing if he can't run the offense. Steve Spurrier never backed off when he sent in the backups. If you don't want the other team to score you should play better defense.
proper etiquette in that situation is,.. you only pass on 3rd down, enough to get a first down. Trying to burn the defense deep is poor form.
Menh, Ive seen Les lose by almost that much ahead so you never know. Pretty sure LSU doesnt lose to aTm if we were going for the TD last reg posession. Maybe if it was 42 up then yea, mercy knee.
