With all the potential great matchups we could have had this year, I am very disappointed in the matchups. Ohio State-Texas (we've seen that game twice already), Alabama-Utah (WTF), Penn State-USC (boring). I don't know, maybe it's just me but I think there could have been a better selection.
I think Texas should've been sent to the Sugar against Alabama--but I suppose that would've really set up a possibility for a split championship, should OU beat Florida. The Fiesta should've been Boise State vs. Utah. OSU has no business being in a BCS bowl. The Big 10 did NOT deserve two teams in the BCS. For crying out loud, it's only been the last couple of years that SEC has even gotten two teams in there. I'm hoping that UT puts up 50 on OSU--and they certainly could...
I was also hoping for a UT / Alabama game. The BCS bowls need to match the correct teams and not stick with their conference ties. I thought that's what they were trying to do.
The Big Least and ACCrap conference are putting up the most putrid BCS matchup imaginable. Couple that with the Utah/Bama game and you have what amounts to mostly garbage. "Ho-hum" would be a gargantuan understatement this year.
Just another example of how these conference alignments in BCS bowls are crap. Could have had UGA-USC last year, but the lame-ass Pac-1 went with a severly overmatched Illinois. I would rather have seen a Bama-OSU matchup in the Sugar Bowl, but OSU doesn't really deserve a BCS bowl, anyway. There's no doubt Saban will have Bama ready to play and it's likely they will punish Utah. They know how a big win will position them next year.
What ever happened to the Orange Bowl? #12 Cincinnati vs #21 Virginia Tech??? That's supposed to be a big Five bowl game??? I mean the BCS National Championship Game has #1 vs #2, Sugar has #4 vs #7, the Rose has #5 vs #6, the Fiesta has #3 vs #10... and the Orange gets stuck with #12 vs #21??? And the #12 team is Cincinnati????
11 Bowl Match-ups between ranked teams: #1 Florida v #2 Oklahoma (BCS Championship, Miami FL) #5 USC v #6 Penn St (Rose Bowl, Los Angeles CA) #3 Texas v #10 Ohio St (Fiesta Bowl, Phoenix AZ) #4 Bama v #7 Utah (Sugar Bowl, New Orleans LA) #9 Boise St vs #11 TCU (Poinsettia Bowl, San Diego CA) #8 Texas Tech vs #20 Ole Miss (Cotton Bowl, Dallas TX) #13 Oklahoma St vs #15 Oregon (Holiday Bowl, San Diego CA) #16 Georgia vs. #19 Mich St (Capital One Bowl, Orlando FL) #12 Cincinnati vs. #21 Virginia Tech (Orange Bowl, Miami FL) #18 Pitt vs #24 Oregon State (Sun Bowl, El Paso, TX) #22 Northwestern vs #25 Missouri (Alamo Bowl, San Antonio TX)
At least the Orange Bowl gets the BCS Championship game this year in addition to their non-spectular #12 vs #21 match.
