sure it is if you're 50 dollars up after counting cards for 5 hours. its fucking brutal in fact. its much funner if youre having a few drinks, playing with friends and not giving a shit. whirl (world bet) covers that.
Craps is a blast, when the table heats up and everyone starts shouting. I've won and lost bundles at the dice table, and its rarely boring. Blackjack, on the other hand, is a snoozefest, maybe because I rarely have any luck. I can stand on 20 when the dealer's showing 15, and he'll turn a six, every time....except for the time when he turns a 2 and gets my hopes up, then turns a 3 and pushes.
True, but dealers always discard a number of cards from the top of a 6-deck shoe when they shuffle, supposedly to keep it fair. Once at Cypress Bayou, right after a dealer switch, the new dealer shuffled, then laid out about 10 cards, face down, one at a time, for the discard. On the last card, he said "ace", dealt it face up, and sure enough, it was an ace. I got up and looked for a new game.
Yeh, but the house rules put the dealer in a position for that play more often. I'm not pushing my luck on that unless the dealer has 20 showing.
I read somewhere that in some way, every bet in the casino pays you back a little bit less than its true odds....that's how they make money off you even when you win. Except one. The only bet in the casino that pays the true odds is at craps when you have the opportunity to double on the point after the initial roll.
That's what is known as a pass line bet, you are betting that the shooter will hit the number. Also plays into the earlier convo about odds. 10x odds means if you have $5 on the pass line you can back it up with a $50 bet. Pays quite nice when it hits
