    Good points.

If we're talking schedule then I'd have to say the OSU / USC winner.

Could also be the Big XII champ winner.

Ohio State - too much talent returning, weak schedule in total. Two years of ass-whoopins from the SEC to toughen them up. This is their year.

OSU plays their conference schedule, which will be better this year than the last few...Mich State will be improved, if Northwestern can play a little D, they have the Offense to put some points up, Illinois has led the B10 in rushing yards/game for the last 3 years, scUM will play good defense this year, as will Penn St., Wisconsin will be tough, assuming one of their younger guys steps up at QB, and then the USC game. Not saying the B10 will be able to test them this year, but will be good enough to hang with most conferences. I agree that the last two NC games have toughened them up a bit, as they seem more relaxed, yet focused at practice so far this year. I'm obviously a homer, but if this was any other team in the country that had lost only last year's NC, and returned the talent and experience it did, with an excellent coaching staff, the only discussion would be who's #2. I'm ok with that, as are the players, coaches and most fans, as we realize that this year isn't about revenge, but earning respect, which i think represents that chip on their shoulders being squared a bit, and grounded in hard work, not animosity or shame.

This will be a fun year to watch!

I was in the army with a bunch of guys who were OSU fans. "WOODY--WOODY", etc. Most could not talk anything except that "they were from Ohio." YOU, my friend, would have been a pleasure to serve with. We could watch a game together and enjoy the whole thing. Thanks for coming to this board..........col:thumb:

I am the only one to pick OU so far, that surprised me.

Florida's D being suspect and losing the TE does not afford them the top spot.

Georgia losing their LT is critical. Brings them down a peg.

I would argue OU or Ohio State.

USC has questions at QB with Sanchez' injury. They may not be prepared to beat Ohio State early in the season.

Then along comes Chase Daniel and his senior year, he won't allow them
to lose the last time. For those of us in the metroplex that have watched him play at Carroll HS, you know it is only a matter of time until he wins it all. This year he doesn't have to do so much himself.

Ohio State again doesn't have the offensive punch necessary to beat Georgia, LSU or Florida.

Both of Georgia's two offensive playbooks will be fine with the OL depth that Georgia has. I pity any DC that has to guess what Logan Gray is capable of pulling off. Georgia's defense will be very tough to score on and statistically should be among the top defenses in the country.

OU looks good on paper, but their LBs and defensive backfield are suspect.

My national pick is based on who I believe will finish #1, and that would be Oklahoma. They have some serious firepower this season, and a good enough defense to keep them competitive against every opponent on their schedule. Other than Texas and Texas Tech, OU has an unimpeded path to the title game to face Missouri.

UGA #1 ? ..... Dunno ... I still believe LSU will be the team to beat in the West despite the tough schedule. It all comes down to (a) can the QB(s) mature quickly enough and establish consistency, and (b) can LSU remain healthy. The talent and weapons along both sides of the ball are evident.

UGA should enjoy the preseason love while it lasts ...... I've got them losing three this season, including their early matchup against USC. The USC defense will be solid as long as all american Jasper Brinkley is healthy. Brinkley plays the game with a sense of reckless abandon that reminds one of Dick Butkis. Even if you dislike USC, you gotta' love JB and Capt. Munnerlin.

My pick in the East is either UF or UT, which makes September 20th (perhaps) the day that decides both East and West champions - that's going to be the day of the heavyweights in the SEC.
