Beating the Bulls record of 72-10. Unbelievable how the role players have really meshed to make this team complete and dominating. Bottom line is they play GREAT defense. Defense wins you know what. They are already 6 games ahead of the nearest competitor for home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Boston has lost only once at home, and they practically gave that game away.
they are 27-3 through 30... they'd have to go 33-19 the rest of the way to get just 60 wins... that isn't happening... I am tired of this "easy schedule" stuff... Bottom line is they still play all the eastern conference teams 4 times and the majority of those teams have losing records, so don't expect too much of a collapse. They win anywhere from 68-74, depending on if Doc decides to go for the record, or rest his starters. I say go for it. They can rest the majority of the 1st round. (See Detroit v. Orlando last season as proof of what an East 1-8 matchup is all about).
They just whipped up on 5 teams from the almighty West (4 on the road). Maybe you'll get on board after they are hoisting the trophy.
Caught a bit of Barkley's comments on the radio this morning regarding the record. Sounded like he said something about walking to Atlanta in a speedo if the Celtics hold the record pace. In that case, it would probably be better if it doesn't happen. Barkley in a speedo ain't a nice thought.
i know they are really good and i am not one of those guys that think they will fail when they play the west...the type of people that clair alluded to. i meant that they probably wont be within reach of the bulls. plus, injuries and things are part of basketball. so i think 60-67 would be a great season.
no doubt, the Celtics have pretty much been without injury these first 30 games and the front end of their schedule has been the easier half but the East is weak and Boston can whip up on most of these teams. IF they stay healthy (especially the big 3, and they aren't youngins), then I say they get to 70, at a minimum.
I think they could get seventy. It will be interesting to see how the old guys play deep into the season and the fact that they have played so well lately will benefit them down the road considering they haven't had to play full games. Ultimately, RR and other role players will determine their fate and record.
