As far as I understand it the distress radiobeacons are activated by a crash, a sinking, or manually.

Man, there is so much bullshit on the internet these days that whenever I see something that seems remarkable in any way, I Google it and add the word "debunked". Sure as hell, half of the strange-but-true stories aren't true at all and somebody has already documented it.
Possible. But 70-foot crash debris staying afloat for this long is rare. On the other hand, a few pieces like the tail fin (over 60 feet) with a lot of sealed compartments inside can float for a remarkably long time. The problem is that high-speed crashes into the water usually shatter a plane into tiny bits. But a botched ditching might leave big pieces. The mystery deepens.
That will be a problem in trying to locate it now. The photos are around 4 days old. I also just read that satellite photos may reveal an oil slick in the same area. 1500 miles off the coast of Australia. That shit is out there.
Absolutely, and so many people on Facebook believe anything they read without checking it out. Last week, it was "KFC uses animals that aren't really chickens, so that's why they aren't Kentucky Fried CHICKEN any more."
I happen to know this is an absolute undenieable fact. I know a guy who went into KFC and ask for a chicken strip and they gave him a cock; a horse cock.
