My position, despite which school I graduated from, is to look at a situation for what it is.

The key ingredient in rebuilding is pulling in players that fit your system. Considering we are in a dead period and there is a continuing exodus in their verbals it certainly doesn't put the "rebuilding" process in a positive light.

What is means is this. In a period of one month there is a LOT of work to be done. Any fan, faced with this situation, would easily and accurately call it a genuine worry.

What you did was take a post dealing with another team and make it about Bama. What you did was take something I said and try to portray it as a "negative" comment about the true situation.

Hey, sometimes the truth of a matter isn't positive.

IF we go back to my original post, you'll see where I said that Nebraska fans are worried about the situation they are in now. As evidenced by the two most popular forums groups in the 'net, like I said earlier to the Nebraska fan here, for every one post about Bo there are between 8-9 on the recruiting situation which by no means is a positive situation. Hell, just on the the front page of the Rivals forum there were 17 threads about recruiting and 2 about Bo. Those posts about Bo, while I didn't read them, leave me doubting they are talking about watching the game.

Most Nebraska fans don't care about rivals.com or scout.com. When we were winning in the '90's we didn't have great recruiting classes according to the experts. Callahan brought that mentallity with him and now it's gone.

Nebraska was bound to loose recruits. Callahan recruited based on stars. We don't need the players that decommitted. I wish them well, they can go somewhere else and play without heart. Pelini will bring players that will play hard and he will win with them.

My reference to both of those sites wasn't about what player was ranked where or fit what need. It was about the mode of the conversations. While those two sites do not represent the entire fan base they are both large Internet communities and given the topics prove there is some concern.

As to whether Callahan made his judgements on stars and in the 90's you didn't, it doesn't change the fact that in today's recruiting climates the majority of the schools have their classes practically filled with the top players out of the available pools. There are a few left here and there, sure.

It's a numbers game now...and there is some room to make up with those players leaving. That's the point.

I'll concede that point. I do believe Pelini Coaching in the NCG will help calm the waters some. It's nothing but a positive for Nebraska to be mentioned during the game and to have Bo's mug on the screen. Signing day is still a ways off. It is a dead period so we just have to sit back and wait to see what happens. No time to panic, right Coach Pelini

Bama can stay there as well.

As for Notre Dame, as long as they have Charlie the Tuna and his arrogance I don't see that program rising. The man clearly knows nothing about player development at the college level.

Yeah, I would say Charlie has been a little over exposed on his weaknesses. High profile Head Coaching jobs tend to do that. Poor Charlie.
We enjoyed beating ND and Charlie into submission last year. We hope you enjoyed the game.

Terry is making a valid point, and it is most valid in the short term, for this class. saban signed with Bama in Jan. and he was able to improve their first class in a month. There is some time after the game. Then there is the dead period, he couldn't do much recruiting work before the game anyhow.

Longer term, if he coaches the Tigers to a Nat. Champ., there will be a star on his resume that will give him instant credibility with any defensive player he wants to talk to, "I was the defensive coordinator at LSU when they won the national championship!" is all he'll have to say, and any good high school kid will listen, intently. This move probably won't bear a lot of fruit this year, but over the next 4 years, should LSU win, I think it will bear some fruit!

I continue to see this as a win-win for LSU and Nebraska.

    :geauxtige :crystal:
