Boo Weekley - My new favorite golfer

This guy won a tournament yesterday...The Heritage I believe. He beat Ernier Els with chip ins on 17 and 18.

I just heard an interview with him on the Jim Rome show. Very amusing guy. During the interview he stated that this past weekend had been the windiest he'd ever seen it on a golf course. He went on to say that during the last three holes, it was windy to the point to where it makes your butt cheeks pucker up.

Only bad thing about him: An Alabama fan.

 

He is funny as hell. I never knew much about him and have a few friends that golf with him around my area and they never brag about him as a golfer just say he is one of the best guys to be around.



Also, said he was glad the final round was moved to Monday because he stayed up to long Saturday playing cards. Hhe said he ate a handful of jelly beans and went to bed...and thats how he prepared on Sunday night.

 

Nice to see Boo get a win after letting one slide through his fingers a couple of weeks earlier in Florida.

One of the criticisms of the PGA Tour is other than a few notable exceptions there are no personalities on Tour.

Boos has personality and looks like he could attract the "common man" fan much like Daly does.

 

Rome talked about the personality thing after the interview with Boo. If you listen to Rome alot, he always plays this edited clip with Tiger answering questions in a robotic manner..."The course looks good. My swing feels good." It is rather funny. Today, Rome said there's a new voice in golf and replayed the clip about the wind and the butthole puckering versus "The course looks good...."

 

One of the things I noticed about Boo was when he basically handed the win in the Honda Classic to Mark Wilson on a silver platter six weeks ago, he had the guts to face the media afterwards and basically said he choked big time. Tiger probably would have stormed off the course or if he did meet the media he would have given the scripted answers you referred to.

The only thing I don't like about Boo is I read that he's a Bama fan.

He's like a lot of Bama fans. Was going to Georgia for gold but didnt have grades. Instead went to Harvard on the Highway or Tulane on the Four-lane (Faulkener State CC). Most of Bama's fans went there. :grin:

Though, I will admit, many good golfers have hone through there.

 

One of the truly great sports names ever, right alongside Happy Feller, PK for Texas in the late 60's.

I mean, you CAN'T boo him loudly, right? :hihi:

 

Or famous stock car driver, Dick Trickle.
