Picture it. The San Francisco Giants playing their most hated rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chevez Ravine. Barry comes in with 755 homers, tied all time with the great Henry Aaron. Barry finally hits number 756, amidst a most raucous crowd of Barry haters you will ever witness in your life. And then fights break out in the stands between Giant and Dodger fans. It quickly gets out of control into what appears to be the makings of a riot. Mark it down....number 756 on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 10:08 CST. And so it goes......
wherever he hits it, they will cheer. it's easy to hide behind a tv camera or a computer and say how bad this record is, but in the midst of history, people will cheer, just like they did in Wrigley the other day when he hit 2.
Yes, get tickets to the Thursday night game....you'll never guess what they are sponsoring? They are holding a Steroids Awareness Clinic before the start of the game. I am not making this up people.....
FWIW...I cannot stand Barry Bonds...and literally, I wish he would blow his knee out as he walks up to the plate next time...then it gets infected...for 5 years. HOWEVER, I just found myself allowing my 5 year old to stay up just a little longer to watch BB's at bat in the 3rd. He doesn't know much about BB...and was fine with going to bed after the Busch race. But I just felt...in case he hit #755...my 5 year old son my appreciate looking back in a few years and saying "I saw it when he did that".
