No they wouldnt 40 yards doesnt equate like their speed in the 100 meters, Bolt and Gay would probably run a 4.2 or low 4.3. Especially Gay, his start isnt great, his top end speed is probably around 70 meters.
I never thought I would see the day when a guy would run a 9.71 and lose by two steps. I watched it live and still can't believe it. Gay is the second fastest man to ever live, but will probably never get a world record because he's not even in Bolt's hemisphere.

If he wasn't 6'5" I wouldn't believe it either. But this actually makes sense to me that he can be so much faster than everyone else.
Anyone think he can go sub 19 seconds in the 200? I don't think he can do it but sub 19 in the 200 and sub 9.5 in the 100 would have bob beamon like longeivity in the record books.

Does seem to be getting ridiculous. Look at these stats for the world record 100 times. 1991 9.86 1994 9.85 1999 9.79 2008 9.69 2009 9.58 These are the world record times and how long they stood. Seems unbelievable to have the kind of jumps in the last 12 months. It took 8 years to drop 7/100th's but only 12 months to drop over 2/10th's!
yeah thats the thing. hes a freak among freaks. i really wish steroids and all the other crap would just be legal so i could see 900 foot homeruns and quarterbacks completing 80 yard passes on average. track and field would be one of the three major sports if so. 90 foot pole vaults and 20 foot hurdles would something to behold. 5 second 100 meters would be cool. you could always add a cheetah in lane 5 or something to attract the kids.
