So . . . why? What's his motivation? How does Alleva benefit from helping Crowton if its not what Les wants? How would pissing Les off benefit Alleva, for that matter? Competent AD's are more replaceable than proven head coaches at this level.
I'm not going to say that I agree with this post, but I don't find it to be irrational. Many people on this board have posted about how they would be pleased to see Miles leave, and these are the people who the administration has to hear it from. It won't be a good decision to send him away, but it may happen. This prediction isn't a reflection of what the TC thinks is good for the team, but rather what he thinks will happen if his antecedent becomes true. Let's be real, we should've won 10 games last season, the losses to Ole Miss and Penn State should've been wins, and then there was the near loss to Ark that shouldn't have been close. Who's to blame for these shortcomings?
I agree with you. Only way LSU dumps Miles is if the seats in Tiger Stadium are not filled on Saturday nights.
Purely financial from what I heard. Paying Crowton his buyout and paying top dollar for a worthy replacement was too costly given the current budget cuts ripping through LSU at this time.
i think he's more worried about appearances and what is thought of him more than anything. (see duke lacrosse, and i agree with all thats been said about that.) when the state is struggling financially and cutting higher ed, imo, the rationale was that it looked bad to pay such a big buyout for crowton and then turn around and pay a lot more for someone else. even tho the athletic dept donates to the university, and its to the university's benefit that the fb program be as strong as possible, it was more of an appearances/perception thing than what was good for the program. and yes, i truly believe that. i believe alleva is a slimy weasel who only does what he thinks will score him political points. edit: oops! i took too long posting and bhelm beat me to it! i agree with him, obviously.
That makes more sense, that is what he's being paid to do. Everybody else on campus has had to make distasteful decisions regarding our budgets. He's influenced a whole lot more by money than by disgruntled fans for sure.
but at the same time, he is an egomaniac which is evident by his letter to the fans from Joe Alleva that was posted on LSUsports.net's homepage after either the Ole Miss debacle or the Penn State game i can't remember. So you can't really say that the fans don't influence him in any way. They may not go into his decision making when it comes to coaching changes, hirings and firings, but the last thing he wants is the entire state on his ass like they are on Miles ass. So he will throw whomever under the bus so the attention is diverted from him.
now i remember why i was jumping off the ledge.... http://www.tigerforums.com/tigers-den/70274-alleva-new-ad-2.html
