It's worse than a smear campaign. They are actually communicating unofficially directly to an enemy to advise them that the United States may just fail to honor any treaty that they sign for their own domestic political reasons. They are allying themselves with the most radical elements in Iran that also want the disarmament talks to fall apart. It's completely unethical, unprecedented, diplomatic sabotage, and borderline treason. They are showing no respect for the OFFICE of the Presidency in their pathological hatred of Obama. They are undermining the President of the United States of America and empowering the radical Iranian Ayatollahs.

It's a clear violation of the Logan Act, which has been law since 1799.

"Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."
It's also political naivety of the highest order, which is why the veteran Republicans are running away from this. Another instance of the republicans endeavoring to make government fail if they don't get their way. The voters are not impressed by that shit and 2016 is coming up. Worse, if by some miracle the Republicans get a man in the White House, the democrats will have precedent to pay them back in kind and ruin their own foreign policy. It's just 47 congressmen identifying themselves as the stupidest and most deserving of being ousted from office.

In other words its OK with you if Iran is left free to develop atomic weapons right under our noses while Barack Hussein bends over backwards to appease the ayatollahs.

Are you daft? Can you friggin' read? That is not what I said and displays an ignorance of the situation that is astonishing.

Look Iran is already developing nuclear weapons and without the negotiations they can have them in 2 years. All we have to do is nothing, is that what you recommend? We can't stop anybody from developing nuclear weapons. We were not able to stop Israel, India, South Africa, or Pakistan. What makes you think Iran will stop without the serious pressure we have placed on them with sanctions forcing them to make a deal?

And look, the radical Ayatollahs are against the deal. Are you with them or the moderate Iranians that want the deal to get the sanctions lifted?

What exactly have we done that appeases the Iranians. Be specific.

Exactly Red, they have basically taken the side of the hardliners in Iran. It's war mongerering and if the negotiations fall apart, and Iran makes a bomb because of this I think you can make a case that these 47 senators are treasonous.

Now I don't think they thought this through i think it was just a pathetic attempt to undermine Obama any possible way they can.

So, Congress, who is a COEQUAL branch of the government doesn't have the authority to send a letter? Kerry negotiated with the Sandinistas and Pelosi visited Syria but it is ok with you because they are in the blue camp right?
