Bobby Petrino, HC of the Louisville Cardinals, has been hired as the new HC of the Atlanta Falcons.

Well he develops QBs. Should be interesting. This is great news for Vick. Look for Bobby's first order of business to get a legit #1 receiver.

And maybe a mediocre #2 and #3 reciever, since all they have is Alge Crumpler at TE. Seriously, look for him to try and groom him like Ried groomed McNabb.

Problem is Vick is not, and never will be, a true QB. The only way to use him is in a option type offense. Don't think that could work in the NFL......defenses are too fast. I guess time will tell.

I remain optimistic about Vick's prospects (foolishly, I know.) He's got the strongest arm in the NFL (at least until JR gets there), has a winner's killer instinct, and has never had a legit WR. I know it sounds crazy, but they've brought in more crappy receivers than the Lions.

This should be interesting, at the very least. And it also means we can put to bed about 15 Petrino going to XXXXX team threads over the next month or two.

Also, I guess this answers the foolish knee-jerk question of "will NFL teams take a chance on college coaches ever again after Saban?"

Petrino definitely said the right thing after the hiring too, when he said that he thinks the Falcons job is the best coaching gig in the NFL. That's exactly what Arthur Blank wants to hear, and why the UDub episode with Mora was so unforgiveable.

This brings me to Mora Jr. For those of you that have watched a lot of Falcons games (granted, probably not many of you): Is this guy a good coach or not? I have no idea, but am genuinely curious.

I think he will coach up White and Jenkins and get them playing more to their expectations. I still don't see either one as a legit #1. He needs to go out and get a #1, but there are none in free agency this year (Bennett is the highest rated free agent WR). He would have to draft one. Calvin Johnson is the only WR who is guaranteed to make an immediate impact and he will be gone in the top 5 picks.

im not anti-vick either and dont think he needs to be another qb. he can be who he is and be successful but vick lacks confidence unless hes really comfortable with a receiver. hes not like brady or brees who throws to whomever is open. he seems to have to trust his guys and Lelie is a terrible #1 because he is like devery and wont go over the middle. Not a guy to bail you out in tough downs. Then again neither is jenkins.

I think mora is a solid coach but has some adapting to do. he became influenced on the whole west coast deal instead of having a plan for vick and sticking to it. vick having to learn a new offense again isnt going to be good but petrino is a creative guy who should help him in the long run.

unfortunately, schaub may the guy he wants for the long run.

Here is something to think about the Falcons trade Vick to the Oakland for the #1 pick.........
