No details, but I am hearing Bobby Johnson has resigned at Vandy. Any collaborating news?

    Thanks

The timing makes me concerned for him.

Bobby Johnson to resign today from Vandy

ESPN's Chris Low cites multiple sources saying Johnson will resign today in a 2 p.m. presser.

    From Fanhouse ---

Bobby Johnson has retired as head coach at Vanderbilt less than two months before the start of the football season.

The news was first reported by local radio station 104.5 The Zone and later announced by Johnson himself at a hastily arranged press conference.

"It was a tough decision with which my wife and I struggled," Johnson said. "I want to make it very clear that this is a personal decision and it's about what we want to do with our lives."

Johnson didn't go into any detail about what his "personal reasons" are, or what else he'll do with his life. Vanderbilt announced that assistant head coach Robbie Caldwell will take over as the school's interim head coach.

Update: Caldwell will coach the entire 2010 season, Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor David Williams confirmed to FanHouse. Williams said he will "absolutely not" be conducting a coaching search this season.

I hope that he is ok, the way this is happening it almost seems as though it might be a health issue. Good Luck to him and his family.

kinda what i was thinking. to not be forced out and to have it suddenly and without warning this close to the season, something is going on. my first thought was health issue with him or his family.

whatever the reason, i wish him the best.

When did his assistant coaches contracts become guaranteed for the year? Why am I not surprised that the date was recent....
