You know no one has brought up the fact (at least I haven't seen it) that Les sure didn't mind his agent putting that Arkansas bullshit out there to squeeze LSU for more money. Les may be a good man, but I don't think we should put him on a pedestal here. I agree that the dirty laundry doesn't need to be aired out in the media, but LSU has done ALOT for Les Miles. Hell, he'd have been hired and fired 3 or 4 times at other stops had LSU not hired him.
If you think the atmosphere around BR is low and sucks now, wait until the clock hits 00:00 this Friday. Shit ain't gonna be pretty.
So if LSU is lucky enough to have generous private donors, its better they contribute 15 million to a buyout rather than to education? Is it more important LSU have generous football donors, or generous education donors? If education is more important than football shouldn't any 15 million you can shake out of the trees, go to education if LSU is in a financial crisis?
During my active duty Air Force days, I traveled to/through Area 51 numerous times. I didn't see any little green men. I didn't see Les in his purple windbreaker either.
This has been rebutted numerous times, so I won't repeat it here. If you have a problem with the going market value to maintain a top-tier football program, start with the season ticket-holders and work your way down to Boudreaux firing up the grill in the Ag Center lot on Saturdays.
Get your head out of the sand. A guy who can pony up big bucks for a buyout probably already donates substantially to academics but if he is pissed off about keeping a coach past his prime he is likely to say fuck it and stop contributing to anything LSU related. One hand washes the other.
To quote The program, "When was the last time 104,000 people showed up to watch a damn chemistry experiment?" The answer to your question is, the boosters want a successful football program, and the longer LSU football sucks like they do now, TAF money will start to dwindle. Currently, the LSU football program generates in excess of $80M/annually, and TAF gives millions to the education side of the University. Once that money starts drying up, the education side won't get shit.
