I really don't know. Hiring a coach is a hit and miss deal. It looks like Alleva is starting off right, but a lot of things have to line up just right to get the coach you want. Even getting the one you want doesn’t guarantee success. Hopefully he has been doing his homework long before now and at least has a list of quality coaches that have legitimate interest in the job.

What's so hard about Ronald Anderson keeping his mouth shut and not giving an interview to GG? We've got some ungrateful fans who don't think Les deserves to be treated with respect after all he's done for the program, but I'll bet a majority of our fans have reservations about the way this went down. Its also allowed the situation to start impacting recruiting way earlier than it needed to. Wait to we lose a couple of recruits, then the same chickensh*t fans who think the backstabbing is cool will be crying their eyes out. I predict that after the smoke clears and Les is gone, that he will become even more beloved by Tiger fans. I can see Alleva and the Board having their failure to keep this behind closed doors and not blab to the media haunt them for years. God help them if the next coach tanks.

    People with brains?

I was angry at Chavis, but not any longer. Now it looks like Alleva's maneuvering blew up the team right before the Notre Dame game and was the major factor in the loss. Is the Chavis case still going to trial? That would be Chavis's opportunity to publically air some of Alleva's dirty dealings and give Chavis a chance at a little sweet revenge. What if out of loyalty to Les and LSU, Chavis kept quiet about a lot of stuff, instead taking a hit to his own reputation and resulting in it looking like he betrayed the Tigers. Imagine if Chavis takes the stand and starts airing details of Alleva repeatedly being a snake and cancer.

You have more than one brain?

I was talking about nothing matters right now except hiring the right candidate, Kathy. And wasn't even in context or in response to you.

Some weird obsession going on here.

So you're blaming Alleva for 11 years of shitty offense? Because that's EXACTLY what "blew up the team".

I happen to believe it is time for Les to go. But certainly a stronger case can be made that he be given one more year, given his winning percentage, that the team was #2 just a few weeks ago, that he recruits well etc etc. LSU likely had a national championship caliber team next year. The Tigers were realistically one year away, despite 7-0. Many of us know that. With a new coach, are they still going to be national championship caliber next year? Are we pissing away a NC by changing coaches? So while I think it was time for Les to move on (maybe to become AD), I readily acknowledge a strong case can be made for keeping him.

Alleva has hurt the program by airing dirty laundry in public. This hurt LSU's reputation nationally, potentially hurt recruiting, hurt their chances to beat Ole Miss and make the Sugar Bowl, cost them the game versus Notre Dame last year, has of yet unpredictable effects on next years NC run. Bertman would have handled this with much more class.

Don't conflate Les's pros/cons with Alleva's airing dirty laundry in public. Two different issues.

First thing a new, big name coach should do is fire Alleva before he can do more of the same to the new regime..

While I agree w/your passionate distaste for the sequence of events that seem to be unfolding, and Alleva's potential snaking of the circumstances, the time has come for CLM and LSU to part ways, Alleva is not responsible for how the team has performed since Bama, or how the talent on the offense has been underutilized for years, and a new coach can't fire the AD.

How much more respect can you give him than $15 million? You have no idea what you're talking about. The grumbling and dissatisfaction with Les was already there whether it was in the media or not. Some recruits may decommit while others may commit because of the new coach. If the new guy is Jimbo thatight seal the deal for Frank's, who was wavering and naturally was concerned about whether his talent would be developed or wasted if Miles remained.

This is the age of social media. You can't keep anything this big a secret for long. If Alleva is on the ball and considering last season he has been working out a contingency plan since day 1 in case things went sour
