and so is the era of Bo. edit: I heard this on talk radio today and it makes sense to me. IMO, there will be no new head coach of UM with ties to him. No alum, no former coaches...nothing but fresh ideas and fresh faces. UM will move on. It's become stagnant and hasn't won a national championship in a decade in a conference that's setup to provide the path of least resistance to get there. By default, :milesmic: remains at LSU to grow this empire with more SEC championships and national championships. I'll consider my point validated if LC retires or otherwise steps down on Monday. That will put CLM in the awkward position of having to commit before the SEC championship game and before the national championship game, and he simply won't jeopardize the possibility of winning either with that distraction. He'll say no to UM in order to focus on the task at hand. If Carr waits until Dec/Jan to announce retirement, then I'm just another idiot with an opinion, because CLM will be packing his trash and heading home to MI.
I know I'm repeating the same thing over and over...but I must. In both of your above scenarios, you assume automatically that UM actually WANTS CLM...and I don't think they do. Carr's retirement doesn't automatically punch Les' ticket to Ann Arbor...he has to be invited first.:thumb:
That's why I broke it down into 2 parts. If LC retires Monday, I think he's sending the message that he, not necessarily UM, wants no part of CLM. He has the power to screw CLM out of this job, whether UM has an interest in him or not. On the other hand, if he waits, LC is sending the message that he would like to see CLM in the position, or at least have the opportunity to be considered for it. Bottom line is that LC controls whether CLM will even be considered for the position or not, regardless of the interest of UM.
OK...I see your point. But I can pretty much assure you that CLC is one of the UM higher ups that does NOT want CLM at UM. And you're right...he does have a say...either with his actions, as you suggest...or by simply expressing his opinion. The whole Jai Eugene recruitment thingy is just the tip of the iceberg, IMHO.
He's got to win one before he wins 'more'. He's yet to do either. (This is not a slight on him, just pointing out a flaw in the post above)
that's quite a conspiracy theory you're workin on there, sport. I bet Coach Carr has a voodoo doll of Coach Miles too and is pricking him as we speak. Dance, monkey boy, dance.
