great guy, and this isnt a nebraska thing as i like them and wish them the best. but do we miss him? i dont think so. fwiw, as expected their recruiting is terrible. they are mocking their recruits by ranking them on a heart system...as in if he is a five out of five he has that much heart and that compensates for his lack of talent. so how do we like the new guys?
We are very aggressive, even if we are making mental errors in pass coverage. I would rather be aggressive and get beat that way. They are as intense as ever, especially our linebackers. Our D-line seems to be more motivated than last year. Even Eugene has a swagger and is playing quite well. I like the defense a lot. At year's end, we will be deadly. I bet the players would say in private that they like the new style of play better than last year.
Funny. I find our defense this year much less aggressive. I'd like to see more stunts and blitzes. We're laying back and letting a Miss. State offense move the ball almost at will. Definitely didn't have that killer instinct like we did against Auburn.
I think our defense and offense was alittle vanilla today. Probably for a reason, Florida in two weeks! Didn't want to show too much.
We're certainly getting scored on much more this year. Give me last year's defense so far but with all the new starters, there's no way of telling if it's talent or coaching.
Bring back Will Muschamp! I guess our new guys are doing okay though, although I'd also like to see more pressure. Again in an SEC game, we consistently rushed only four or five. I can't say I understand why when our linebackers and nickelbacks are consistently getting beat when the QB can get the pass off.
I think we miss him in terms of the mental mistakes and blown coverages we've seen the last couple of weeks. Granted, our secondary is extremely talented, but also extremely young. I don't think we're vanilla on D, but we're weren't even trying to disguise our blitzes/coverages like last week. We don't want to tip our hands when playing lesser opponents.
Depends on if you are referring to first 4 games or overall. We had some trouble stopping people from about halfway through last season until the end.
Over the past few days, I have been thinking how nice it has been not to hear comments like "we miss Bo" or "we need a real defensive coordinator". I think the staff is doing a fine job and is really utilizing all of our defensive talent well. The defense will get better and better as the year progresses.
