Though we still won, that call was bull***** and brought back an amazing Peterson return.

Definitely BS, but close enough to call I suppose. Looked like PP was already past the defender.

:geaux: Agree that it was a pretty borderline call. He had his hands up and kinda ran in to him a little bit more than anything else. Definitely WAS NOT what you normally see called as a block in the back. :LSU231:

Officials always call that, as ticky tack as it may have seemed.

yea. Even if it had absolutely nothing to do with the play it has to be called.

    that is correct

That's what sucked about it, Hatcher's guy had no chance as he was not athletic enough to recover from the quick dart inside by Peterson. Hatcher appeared to back off and even had his hands up then kind of just nonchalantly pushed him away ever so slightly as if to say "get out of my way".

No they don't. I've seen that not called plenty of times. In fact, it was called and then waved off in a game I saw last week. The Ref even announced that the flag was not being called because the contact was "incidental".

If anything, it's one of those "flip a coin" calls like most holding penalties that don't get called...

You rarely get away with it. They love calling blocks in the back on special teams.

To be fair, the late hit on JJ was also ticky tacky. After going out of bounds, JJ slipped as the MSU player got to him, which made it look like he was hit (when really, from what I remember, the guy's arm barely touched him), the crowd erupted and the ref threw the flag.

Well, I think sometimes folks look at late hits like they have to be HARD hits. They don't. It wasn't a HARD hit, but it was clearly late. It was a no brainer call. Hell, I could see it, and I'm in friggin' Chicago.
