No it does not. I don't care how you try and spin it, the man made some extremely racially insensitive and, frankly, ignorant remarks regarding the plight of black people. Why do you continue to try and defend this man? This isn't political. Republicans and Democrats have roundly condemned the comments as ignorant and out of step with mainstream thought. Why not just let it go man?
Did you watch the video or just the edited part? I watched it. We've progressed quite a bit from that day until now, and we sure don't want to go back. We sure don't want the colored people to go back to that point. We sure don't want these Mexican people to go back to that point. And we can make a difference right now by taking care of some of these bureaucracies, and do it in a peaceful way. I take it you don't agree with this statement? By the way. Whites picked just as much cotton as anybody else. My grandfather farmed. Raised 17 kids doing it. They planted, chopped, and picked cotton by hand before and after school. Spring, summer, and fall. I don't think it killed anyone of them.
Sure, I read the entire article but it doesn't matter. Even the suggestion that any person is better off as a slave than a free person is ridiculous and it doesn't matter the context in which it was said.
Man, you just keep digging yourself deeper. Picking cotton is not the issue. Everybody in the deep south raised cotton. Three of my great grandfathers grew cotton on 40-acre farms with mules, the fourth was a sharecropper doing the same on someone else's land. My grandfathers all picked cotton, my parents picked cotton. Hell, when I was young, I picked cotton because the first-generation cotton picker machines left a lot of cotton behind and they sent the kids out to pick the leftovers after them. Even worse I have chopped cotton, which was a worse job because it lasted all summer long. Cotton farming is hard work, just like a lot of other honest work. But this idiot is saying that blacks were better off as slaves picking the white man's cotton. Did you miss that part? He could not be any more ignorant or stupid. It's drawing a clear parallel to his ignorant and stupid ideas that he can steal from the general public and refuse to acknowledge the country he lives in as legitimate.
None of us are free. The govt gets half of our pay every week. What's the rule. Work from January to June for the tax man. The other 6 months you can keep. Big brother reads your text. Records your calls and watches you on the street. He can take your money and lock your ass up anytime for anything.
Got news for you red. The new generation of pickers aren't any better at picking than the first. They may cost $300-400,000 but they still leave the fields looking like it snowed. Only difference is you dare not send a farm hand to scrap the field. Paycheck or not.
I'll have to respectfully disagree. This guy is an ignorant bastard. Saying I like negroes I have a black friend doesn't absolve you from being a racist prick. Being African American has nothing to do with the fact that fatherless children rates are high in that community, or why a lot of minorities are on government assistance. It's a poverty thing and a system that is rigged. There isn't a lazy or a moron gene that comes with skin color, it's all about what you have to do to get out of poverty. I'm a white male, it's probably 1000 times easier for me to pull myself out of poverty because the system is not rigged against me due to race. A disproportionate amount of minorities are in jail because of non violent drug crimes, they are targeted more, pulled over more, harder for them to get good paying jobs. I'm willing to bet that at least or maybe more than half of minorities who receive government assistance work also. This whole myth about hundreds of thousands of lazy freeloaders out there sitting on their asses and collecting a check is just that. A myth. I would also be willing to bet that for every dollar of our tax money that goes to the poor, 5 dollars go to subsidize billionaire corporations. Who are the real freeloaders?
I'll tell you who the freeloaders are. Politicians, corporations being subsidized along with farmers, and those who choose to make a living on welfare instead of bettering themselves.
