Bleacher Report articles are fun to read, but generally it's just a blog. Take it with the same grain of salt. As for the list, Mallet is a gimme. Masoli - give me a break - we don't know what we don't know. No way he can enter the list that high. I might put McElroy and Brantley higher than Jefferson based purely on the team around them. Add McElroy's MNC season last year, and I'm surprised a Bama fan put JJ in front of him. Sounds like some axe grinding. I'm not familiar with the family feuds in Tuscaloosa, thankfully. Overall - I'm not that critical of the list except for Masoli being ridiculously too high (at this point), and McElroy not being quite high enough (at this point).
That is putting it mildly. Most of it is like reading posts from this pace! Except mine of course.
Looks to me like someone is trying to use a bit of reverse psychology for his Crimson Tide. Using a little jab to help get them motivated by choosing their rival to take them down. I can't say that I blame him, I mean the Tigers have all but been told that they are going to have a horrible season and that the Tide will roll over them again. We have our motivation to take them and others down, why not spend a little ink and paper to do the same to satisfy your own homerism.
I will take it as gospel and now think the bleacher report is the leading insider to college football. Do they also give out an award for "their" National Champs? If so I will take 3 of those please. In all seriousness it is VERY nice to read some positive press about the Tigers, and by the way it is not like it is impossible. I was able to watch Masoli last year in person in a GREAT game here in AZ.....when he knows a system and feels comfortable he is scary good. Dude is crafty, tough, and knows when to run.
I think it's a decent list. 'Bama's QB should be a little higher, but if LSU gets better production out of the offensive line it makes sense to me that Jefferson would play better. He wasn't awful last year, he just didn't make enough plays, but part of that is the horrible protection he had and no running game.
I agree. I haven't seen Masoli live, but I think this guy's outstanding, and enough to put him up high on this list, but I'd have him at 3. My top 5 looks like this: 1. Ryan Mallett 2. John Brantley -This is a bit of a stretch since he hasn't played, but these are predictions. I think Brantley has had enough time under one of the best QBs in college football and one of the best coaches, and he will have a bevy of playmakers surrounding him as well. 3. Jeremiah Masoli -I really like this guys dual-threat abilities, and I think Houston Nutt will make great use of him. Not to mention, he will need to carry this team for them to succeed. 4. Greg McElroy -Great game manager; has a NC under his belt and two of the best rushing attacks and defenses in the nation behind him. 5. Jordan Jefferson -I think Jefferson comes into his own this year, but lacks some of the supporting cast or ability that these other QBs have.
