We've had two players recently get a sixth-year of eligibility - Kirston Pittman and Charles Alexandar. Both red-shirted and both lost a season to injury. Richard Murphy is thinking of petitioning for one this year. Personally, I'd rather Blackwell than Murphy next year. But that's me.
Those three guys had injuries in two different seasons, though, unlike Blackwell. I think that is the issue.
:geaux: Pretty amazing that the NCAA won't consider giving a medical waiver to Blackwell when he's hurt on the very first play in the first game of the season! :rolleye33: How can they consider that an unreasonable or deniable request? I could understand it if we were talking about the third game of the season or something. :LSU231:
Regardless, I'm glad he's going to be back. Our starting OL being back in tact should provide a huge lift to our running game down the stretch.
:geaux: Wow. Didn't realize that it had to be 2 seasons to qualify for the waiver. That really makes it tough to qualify for one. :LSU231:
Murphy would be a special case given he didn't miss 2 seasons with injury but missed his 1st year because of NCAA Clearinghouse issues and only lost one season to injury. At least that is how I remember it but maybe I am wrong.
