you can trivialize it, if you want too. But its enough literature out there to back up my statement.
So fuck off for trying to be condescending
    https://rwanda-genocide.wikispaces.com/Causes+and+Effects

    • The tensions between the majority Hutus and the Tutsis, who were seen as the elite members of society
    • The Belgian colonial rule, which rewarded Tutsis with a Western education, and denyied political and economic power to the Hutus
    • Rwandan Independence, in 1963, when the Tutsis were disciminated against, and went into exile in Uganda
    • The Civil War, when the Tutsis returned to Rwanda in 1990, a civil war broke out, ending in a cease-fire, signed by the Hutu president, and presided over by the United Nations peacekeeping force
    • President Habyariman, a Hutu, was shot down on April 6th, 1994. The Hutus blamed the Tutsi for this, and they started a massacre.

You know, I was responding to martin's comment that Africans are so much better than African-Americans. I'm not sure why you're being defensive, but I think he's got it backwards. Compared to North America, Africa is fucked up. Compared to African-Americans, Africans are fucked up. I realize there is beautiful country there, happy people there, thriving economies and modern cities there. But there is a lot of trouble and misery there, too and you know this.

Absolutely. And they are rightfully blamed for their 19th and early 20th century inhumanity. But the Europeans are gone and the African countries haven't been colonies for along time now. Africans are in charge, Africans are the responsible parties, and Africans are going to have to accept blame for modern problems of their own making as well as the credit for problems overcome. Africans killing Africans today is not a colonial problem. South Africa, Algeria, Botswana, Morocco, and even Rwanda are economic successes. Zimbabwe, Congo, the Central African Republic and others are total economic, social, and political disasters.

That source would have more credibility if they could spell "denied".

I know the west failed to stop Rwandan genocide, and that's probably because we don't care about black poeple and if had been in Portugal or Austria we would have stopped it for sure. And that's because of racism, no doubt about it. None.

However, the mostly white folks who decided not to help out Rwanda, and particularly the United States, is the least racist group of people that ever existed. The racists are the ones killing the other tribe with machetes by the thousands. And the people doing the killing are to blame. I don't care about your nonsense that Belgium tricked them. that's absurd. It was not the legacy of colonialism that caused the Rwandan genocide. It's tribalism in Africa, which is massive and important thing that is terrible and African people are ridiculously into, enslaving each other and generally fucking with other tribes and warlords and such.

Subsaharan Africa is a shitstorm, and it's not about colonialism.

Again, it's more likely the lack of colonial power there is a problem. If Liberia were an American colony, or Portuguese or French or whatever, it would be hella better off. Because right now it is a total failure. A complete disaster.

Self rule has not yet worked out for most of Africa, or really black people in general. The best places in Africa are North African Arab places (which are still sorta terrible by first world standards)

Colonialism ruins places when it's the soviets, or the communist Chinese, or perhaps the British 100 years ago. But now nothing can be blamed on white imperialism.

So anyways, a friend of mine wrote a lot in law school about what should cause action by the international community, in terms of civil war and genocide. And most of the international community agrees that genocide creates a moral obligation to act, like it did here where I am now in Serbia, when the US saved a lot of people from genocide (because America is great) and I don't think there is any doubt there should have been Americans in Rwanda saving lives. But that is the extent of the blame for the west. Not saving them was bad. But 100 percent of the blame for the genocide itself is squarely on the shoulders of black African people and their tribal primitive violent bulllshit.

Holy shit! One of the demands was that the President acknowledge his white privilege in a public venue. What kind of shit is that?

I am offended. If I was a football player I would go on strike.

If I was black I would rather be the descendant of slaves than the descendant of the Africans that stayed in Africa.

The genocides in both Bosnia and Rwanda were during the Bill Clinton administration. Bubba stepped in and saved the Bosnians. Most of the victims were muslims. Bill Clinton cared more about muslims than he did about black people.

He should say "Yes, I am privileged to have the authority to suspend every one of you."

He is baiting you. Colonialism only exploited Africa, as it also did to North and South America.

What exactly do you refer to?

I can't really buy this. There were Hutus and Tutsis killing each other long before the Europeans came and long after they left.

Talk about fanning the flames and carelessly so. MU Student body President Payton Head who self-identifies as "'Your Nigger/Faggot Missouri Students Association President", put a message on Facebook last night, "that the KKK was confirmed on campus and that he was working with “the MUPD, the state trooper and the National Guard."

Of course that wasn't true, he's now apologized and deleted the post, telling everyone to use the MUAlert system which had already discounted the rumors before he posted them.

Anyone surprised to find out that Head is from Chicago, worked for Rahm Emanual, and his dad was terminated from and then subsequently sued the school district.
