No you can't have a loaded gun in your car were he lived. Maybe he was trying to unload it or maybe he was just fed up with life we may never know.

Mississippi laws aren't the same as ours? In Louisiana, your auto is an extension of your home. Loaded, concealed, weapons are legal.

Comitting suicide with a shotgun is not easy. I agree with Salty. Something's fishy here.

Unless things have changed in Mississippi you can't have a loaded gun in your vehicle. Even in La the game warden or police can write you a ticket for hunting off a public road if you have a loaded gun in your vehicle. Not sure where it splits from hunting to protection.

Completely agree. Waiting on more details. Something just isn't right about all this.

All I was saying is how did the officer not see it? It would have to be in view, it wouldn't fit under the seat. You know they always scope out a car as they are walking up to it.

So yeah, it does seem fishy. I don't see how the cop could miss seeing it. That said, if I'm the cop and I see a shotgun in the vehicle, I would secure the weapon before going back to my car.

Could have easily been on the back seat. At night it's hard to see through tented windows. Also, cops don't always walk up the vehicles when pulling someone over. I've had cops order me to step out of the vehicle while they wait to the rear of your vehicle.

I've had guns in my truck before and get stop by the law and they might ask if it's unloaded but a couple times they don't even mention them.
