CFN Ranks the 2008 College Football Hall of Fame Nominees Cannon had been selected in the early 1980's but was convicted of counterfeiting before his induction and his selection was withdrawn. One has to have played in the last 50 years to remain eligible. It's either this year or next year for Cannon to make it into the Hall.
Hope he gets in. At what point is he finished paying his debt? Not to mention, he deserves in on his accomplishments alone. I'm not exactly impartial, though
Thanks for the news, Red. I'd like to see Cannon make it, and #43 guy, Jerry Stovall. Stovall got robbed for the 62 Heisman, who ever heard of Terry Baker since then. It was a west coast sports writer bias that robbed Jerry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Stovall I used to watch the Cardinals games just to see Stovall, his running mate in the secondary was a guy named Pat Fisher, a little on the smallish side as I recall, but he was a hitter. Cardinals also had Jackie Smith at tight end, from north La. (Northwestern?). Jackie became famous the wrong way in a Super Bowl playing for the Cowboys, he dropped an easy pass in the end zone in a game the cowboys lost. But I had to tell a little story...
I will vote for the following (Being a voter): Billy Cannon Jerry Stovall Tim Brown Eric Dickerson Trev Alberts Jim Dombrowski Wilber Marshall Lawrence Taylor Deion Sanders Chris Spielman Pat Tillman You vote for 11 on the ballot Coaches (2) Lou Holtz Johnny Robinson
Not a bad list but I dont see how you can keep guys like Troy Aikman and Woodrow Lowe off that list and have Pat Tillman on it. I understand the sympathy vote for Tillman but his college career pales in comparison to the likes of Aikman and Lowe. The rest I agree with although I would be holding my nose voting for Holtz.
