While a playoff would be ideal, this looks more like a vendetta by a Texas fan politician. Doesn't our Gov't have more pressing and important things to worry about like the economy and national security?

This won't get us a playoff. They just can't advertise it as a "National Championship" game. They can still advertise it as a BCS Championship game and then winners are claimed National Champions by the polls and not the game. All it does is make everyone be more careful about how they advertise the game. And its not like this hurts the NCAA so its not going to force their hand. You actually have to do something that could hurt the organization if they want to really make a playoff in college football.

And yes, it is a bitter Texas fan doing this if you ask me.

I guess I really don't understand why this guy is bitter. Well, that's not entirely true. I understand the call for a playoff, shouldn't the beef lie with the funky big 12 tie breaker rules that put Oklahoma in the title game instead of Texas and not with the BCS? Seems like this guy would have more influence over how the conference ran it business.

Why not? Evidently Obama thinks this is a worthy effort for congress, so why not pick it up and run. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

Isnt there more important things to deal with right now.
I think this is silly they are even wasting their time with this.

Kind of like all the hearings on if Roger Clemens took HGH...
Such a waste of taxpayers money.
Last year it was that idiot from Georgia, this year some guy from Texas.
Each year whatever team gets shafted their rep. talks about a bill ONLY to satisfy their voters.

    Just stupid waste of time

Actually, it's worse than a waste of time. It's an example of just how frivolous and petty our politicians really are. It's also an example of how we're slowly becoming more and more comfortable with government intervention in even trivial parts of our lives. :dis:

The government has no business addressing this issue.

As much as I'd love a playoff, I agree that there are more important things for the politicans to worry about right now. I live in Texas and am sick of hearing their complaining. Its definately grandstanding by a politican.
