this is bullshit. there is a reason the employer pays that employee minimum wage. lack of experience and skill. why not a bill that says everytime the feds raise minimum wage the empoyees making more than minimum wage gets same dollar amount increase? if I'm making $15 an hr. and minimum wage goes from 7.50 to $10 then my pay goes to $17.50. looks like a bunch of politicians doing that spreading the weath/leveling the playing field bullshit to me.

There are few jobs where employees don't get a raise from time to time. Minimum wage just sets a bottom. $2.50 seems like a big jump all at once, but minimum wage hasn't been increased in a while. Meanwhile inflation has made costs go up for everyone.

Someone making minimum wage makes about $14,500 a year, barely above the poverty line for a single person and well below it for a family of three. $1200 a month . . . and rent will take about $500 of that, bus fare will take another 100, food will be about $250, utilities will be $150, leaving 200 for clothing, laundry, medical expenses, furniture, and other necessary expenses.

That doesn't leave anything for cable TV, a few beers, a used car note, a date on Saturday night or a ball game on Sunday.

Almost nobody pays minimum wage of $7.25 anymore except illegal aliens and part-time help because people just can't afford to work for that. Even Taco Bell is paying $8.50. I pay my student workers $7.25 when they are new freshmen, but if they work out I quickly bump them to $10 or I can't keep them.

cable tv is a luxury, same as beer, ball games and dates. a car can be seen as a necessity i reckon if you live in a rural area but not the city. minimum was established to ensure people can afford the basic necessities to live. it wasn't meant to be used to force employers to pay someone more than what they're worth.
my girlfriend has 2 degrees in science (masters and bachelors). she worrks for the state and only makes $16 an hour. she can't afford cable, insurance for her kids, or tickets for games or enough to eat out at restaurants. she also has a piece of shit car. she makes to much to qualify for assistance and just enough to get by. i help her out when she lets me, to much pride on her part. it really pisses me off when she has a can of peas and bologna or eggs in her basket at the grovery store cause thats all she can afford , to watch someone with a basket full of porkchops, chickens, roasts and vegetables pay for their food with a ebt card and then go outside and load it up in their tahoo or escalade.
its not fair that hard working smart people are struggling while able bodied lazy asses are living pretty damn good. if they receive govt assistance they should be performing community service. picking up trash, painting govt buildings, striping streets, etc...

so the market is working. they are protected from low wages by their freedom to leave and work somewhere else. you are pushed by the market to raise wages or lose them. so why is the law necessary?

it's an election year. it's the politicians way of saying because we're at fault for inflation and stagnant hiring we're gonna force your employers to give you more money or let you go. the free market works great. get a job, perform well and be rewarded. if i don't pay you for what your worth then you can quit and find someone who will. if they somehow pass that bill there are gonna be some laid off fools within weeks of taking effect. government, creating problems because they don't know shit but politics.

To pay anyone a wage that doesn't get them above the poverty line is paying them slave wages and slavery is illegal. Minimum wage is a fair bottom, you go up from there based on ambition and ability, but everyone starts right above the poverty line. No one can be expected to work for below-poverty wages unless it is a part-time job.

There are employers paying less than minimum wage to maiximze their profits right now but they are hiring illegal aliens from Mexico who can't complain about it. Those employers are part of the problem of shrinking US jobs.

those employers paying their employees like shit should get their ass kicked. a rulle of thumb we have is figure out what we can charge for a empoyees (machinist, welder, mach. operator) services and divide by 3. if we pay a machinist $15 then we should be charging at least $45 an hour for him. the button pushers get a ittle better than min wage and some of them aren't worth that.
my political views have been shaped over the years by the people i've worked with. some show up and work there asses off and definitely earn their keep. some think that they should be paid just for showing up. the ones that have had the biggest negative impact are the ones that think that people that work harder to make more shouldn't mind giving more, they're usually the biggest, laziest bums in the shop, and democrats.
and all this farm subsidizing is bullshit. if you can afford a couple of $45-50000 pickup trucks to farm out, a hunting lease in texas and the dakotas, and can afford to go offshore fishing a couple times of year you don't need taxpayer dollars. the illegal immigrants get what they deserve though, they can go through the legal system just like the ones that do. but they are some hard working fools for the most part.
we all have different views but there is one common factor to all the problems going on in this country all of us seem to agree on, whether republican or democrat, politicians seem to be the main cause.

slavery means "forced". simply offering a job at a low wage is not slavery because nobody has to accept.

maybe because you are such a goddamn hero you should make them quit offering these jobs and send these fellas back to the crushing poverty of mexico becasue you know wtf is best for everyone.

leave people alone, man, just leave them alone. everything isnt your business. if person a offers person b a job, its not your concern. its between them. one offers, the other accepts, or not. leave them alone, please. for once once dont imagine that every interaction on earth is yours to manage.

It's my opinion, you idiot. I am forcing nothing and managing nothing.

You just disagree, but your opinions are so off-base that you must resort to lame crap like this in response. Sorry Charlie, my opinions will keep on coming and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it.
