I'm not the one making the hires, dude... it wouldn't be my own personal choice... that is just what i am hearing... trust me, i'd want a either a proven assistant, or Charlie Weis, but that is just what i am hearing. Edit: Reeves has 15-20 years of service in the Cowboys organization.
I agree with the rest of your post but can't get on board with Grimm. His current team, the Steelers, interviewed him twice and did not hire him. That concerns me a lot. And I agree with most of your post... but I don't think Dan Reeves is a 'big fish' or a good choice at all. He is too much like Parcells IMO. Plus I think all his ties to the Cowboys were before Jerry's time.
I predict they go hard after Weis. With the offense floundering like it did, they need an offensive minded coach to take over and then hire a strong DC. Weis realizes that Notre Dame has no chance at competing with the big dogs based on the Irish' academic standards keeping the very elite players from ever being able to come there. Next season is a potential disaster and would fit the mold of what happened to previous head coaches at ND who failed miserably after getting off to a good start (e.g., Willingham). The Irish potentially are a 6-6 team next year and the Irish faithful won't stand for that, not even from fat-ass Weis. Regarding the comment on Russ Grimm not getting the job, I just think the Steelers put more stock in a defensive minded coach ala Bill Cowher and want to continue that trend of the great defenses of past Steeler teams. Grimm was at a major disadvantage from the start.
Never happen! If Payton leaves New Orleans for more money, that would be worse then Saban leaving the Dolphins just because of everything else surrounding New Orleans.
They just stated that Parcells said he could not go thru this from a mental standpoint. His quote: "I don't have the energy for this anymore, fellas", when addressing his coaching staff this morning. He said he could physically do the job, but mentally it was too much for him. Let's just say that Owens was a big part of his decision. No doubt.
The idiot owner of the Redskins is a bigger "rhymes with trick" than Jones. I don't see the Tuna jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.
