Quinn or not, the fins deserve the bone head move of the draft for taking Ginn 9th. Miami could have traded down 10 picks and still got Ginn plus at least another draft pick. Look what the Browns gave up for the 22nd pick. What would the 9th have been worth?

Miami entered this draft with a QB problem, and they still have one unless they think John Beck solved it. Not many others would agree. Maybe they think Cullpepper will return to his forum of old, I dont know but I doubt it. Chris Chambers horrible season was largely blamed on a QB problem. Their terrible offense is largely blamed on the QB position but unless they have some other plan, they didnt solve the most glaring weakness on their team.

I think the Dolphins know something we dont and thats why they didnt take Quinn. Im pretty sure they are aware of their own QB problems.

Passing on Quinn wasn't my problem with their pick, it was taking Ginn. He is a good receiver, but the Dolphins have more weaknesses.

By far, Ginn at no. 9 was the biggest surprise. The Phins could have traded down and got him...STUPID move.

But the dumbest move was Cam Cameron's press conference. He announced to the fans that Ginn will be a great punt returner. Had no mention of him as a WR. So they used the no. 9 pick in the draft for a punt returner. Genious! Glad Im not a Phins fan!

If Beck doesn't solve their QB problem, Quinn certainly would not. I simply do not understand this assumption that Quinn's is such a sure thing.
The Fins and half the teams around the league simply didn't buy into the ND QB hype. I guess they did buy into the OSU WR/PR hype though. :hihi:
Pretty inexplicable, IMO. Of course I think they should have traded down, but you can't always believe the mock drafts and where a player could go. If they had him that highly rated on their board, then they probably didn't want to take a chance on losing him. There's risk both ways.

Trust me, as dumb as it seems to draft Ginn at 9, it's infinitely better than drafting Quinn at 9. Or 22.

I dont think anyone here assumes Quinn is a sure thing. I sure dont which is why I said take Quinn out of the equation when judging who made the bone head move of the draft. It stands to reason they could have packaged that pick in a trade for a QB better than either Quinn or Beck and still have gotten Ginn.

Regarding Beck, I posted this in another thread. BYU seems to put out QB's yearly who break all kinds of passing records but outside of 2 (McMahon and Young), none of them amount to anything in the NFL. Add to that Beck is a pure-T choir boy. What is he going to do on south beach? Dont think there is a Mormon Tabernacle Choir anywhere near south beach. :)

Ginn is still the bonehead move regardless of where Miami had him ranked on their board. Are we to believe that a rookie management team at Miami knows more than the established management teams throughout the league? I dont think so. Cameron comes off sounding like a buffoon with that statement. I sure hope thats not the case or Miami is in for a few more tough seasons.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I haven't watched film like all of these guys have. Adam Schefter is reporting that the Texans were going to take Ginn at #10. Make of that what you will...I'm glad it didn't happen, as I'm a huge fan of Okoye.

Trust me, as far as Fins Draft Skeptics go, I'm a leader of that chorus. For YEARS, especially under Spielman, I just hoped they would trade away their picks because they weren't going to do them any good anyway.

I think Ginn is a bit unique, as teams become enamored with his playmaking skills, even without the prototypical size. Hell, look at the buzz around Reggie, and consider that folks forget he was a non-factor for over half the season.

The funny thing about trading back is you have to have a partner -- and they're not always out there -- especially if the teams don't want the cap hit of a top 10 pick, versus trading back with a partner a bit later in the draft.
