Biggest Performance - Stevan Ridley. Although Ford and Murphy will see touches (and maybe Ware and Blue), Ridley - absolutely livid about his buffoonery last week - is going to torch Vandy for 200 yards tonight. Even if it rains. Maybe even especially if it rains. Biggest Surprise - Vandy scores 17 points.
Here's what I'm looking for in tonight's game. - OL play. This is basically a 1 game audition for Williford, Branch and Faulk to be the replacement to Will Blackwell on the line. I like the idea I've heard mentioned of starting Faulk at RT (shifting Hurst inside) but I'm intrigued by Josh Williford's size and hope he plays a lot. He could be our new House Johnson. We've been lacking in physicality up front ever since we lost Big Herm. - Consistent DL play. Nevis and the LBs stuffed UNC's run game (24 yards total for the Heels) but our young ends need to get a good pass rush on every down. They had a few flashes of greatness but in the second half we couldn't get any pressure. - Which freshman DBs stay in the rotation this week and which get put back in the garage. Hoping to see more of Mathieu and Reid. Also need to see Claiborne respond to last week's performance. - Michael F*ckin' Ford - Better ball control. whether it's Ridley, Murphy or MFF, I want to see us control the clock. NO TURNOVERS WHATSOEVER. - Michael F*ckin' Ford - Return game management. Will we let PP7 loose again? Will we rotate in Randle if Peterson gets tired? Or will we just say "RELEASE THE KRAKEN" and put Russell Shepard back there? If we win by two touchdowns and don't commit any turnovers, I'm happy.
jordan jefferson....completes +70%....no ints...leads the team on some nice long drives as well as some quickies...defense pitches a shutout...37-0 tigers....
I think we see Shepard get 15-20 touches. I think they won't kick to Peterson, so he'll be fresh and shut down passes on his corner. I think Ford plays but misses the blitz he's supposed to pick up and gets Jefferson sacked. I think the defensive line finds several ways to pressure the QB. I think Fruge will play on special teams. He will not run into the punter.
that would definitely fall in the surprise category. i was in this kid's corner longer than most here. but i'm afraid this ship may have sailed a long time ago now.
Vandy's coach said that they want defend Shepard by taking the outside away. The Reverend Doctor Crowton needs to call that tight end and running back slipping out of the backfield and work the middle routes, deep and short.
Don't worry about rain.. Patrick Peterson said earlier that if it rains, he'll cover the whole stadium so it doesn't affect the football game..
