I feel like most of us are euphoric over what our Tigers have done so far this year. The Defense is as good as I've ever seen, the offense has improved immeausrably over the last couple of years, and special teams look solid. I was wondering if anyone other than myself had any thoughts about if there were any dissappointments so far. The whole JJ thing not with standing, I have to be honest and say I think Russell Shepherd has not shown much improvement as a wide receiver. Granted he's made a couple of good catches but he still drops balls he gets both hands on. Just my humble opinion, any others?
Yep ... I mentioned this on another thread. RS hasn't impressed me much with his ability to catch the ball. He didn't last year either. The guy really needs to fucus on making the catch FIRST, then worry about the show he's going to put on in the YAC. Other than that, I'm a little dissapointed in the play calling, but as mentioned by tigerfan ... CLM and Stud may just be holding it all close to the vest.
No defensive intensity whatsoever. If only there was a dynamic, do-it-all, doesn't give a chit, leave-it-on the field every play, run-the-ball, pass-the-ball, he don't care type of player. If only . . .
No, you're not the only one. I've probably stated the same sentiments about Shepherd on about 6 other threads. Is he a ledgit SEC-caliber player? Yeah. But some people just still continue to insist that he deserves all these touches and specific plays, etc. He hasn't been consistant enough. OBJ came here with less hype and less fanfare than Super Shepherd did, and OBJ has probably had more impact in the first 5 games of his college career than Russell has had in 3 years. Point blank: He'll go down statistically as an "average" LSU player.
Fans booing a 5-0 #1 ranked LSU Tiger team...in Tiger Stadium. And no...IDGAF WHO they claim they were booing.
Joking aside, If I had to nitpick something to be disappointed about, it would be overall tackling consistency, or lack thereof. Mostly from the WVU game and it was cleaned up nicely last game, so not too disappointed at being 5-0, No. 1, and overall a very good team.
We have played the toughest schedule of anyone so far and we have stomped the crap out of each one. Disappointments? I wish the camera people would pan the LSU cheerleaders more between plays instead of showing the beaten down players on the other team. But thats just me.
