Very well put. After all, we wouldn't be on this message board unless we were insane LSU fans. The Spring game will definitely provide a fix, but it will be a long Summer. I wish they played a Summer game or even some type of "preseason" game. Personally, I felt like the 2010 football season flew by. Chockfull of drama, fan unrest and heart palpitations. Man, I just wanna blow people off the field this year. My heart can't take it.
The battle in the trenches will be key. If the offensive line can open the holes for our stable of backs like last year we can beat down most opponets. If the d- line can get a good push with only a four man rush our d- backs will have a great year. Au ran all over us last year. The d- line must be able to contain the run and our o- line has to open the lanes for the backs.
You my friend, are not that far from qualifying for Bama fandom status. Oh those trenches, always the trenches. Bama last season was young and that was a curse in itself, but inconsistent O-line play was very surprising. Our D-line was not as athletic as the previous year and even a decent pass rush would have protected our extremely young D-backs. The LSU 4-3 defense, in my opinion, just isn't as flexible in stopping the wide open spread as the 3-4. Losing two D-tackles and your best LB, plus recent O-line futility, a lot needs to manifest itself in the reload department, when the Ducks come a calling. So much has to go right in a championship run, but it always starts in the trenches.
Even better if your team is big and fast. And it is about "Who is coming back." Oregon should identity some of those issues for you.
And when did this happen? We had one of the best running attacks in the SEC last year, despite being at the bottom in passing. The veteran OL will be our strength this year, hoss. You amuse us when you try to be the expert on LSU football.
Not an expert, not trying to micro analyze. Speaking about past futility, specifically the year before. When I mentioned Bama's problems on the o-line, out of fairness, we had the entire line back minus Mike Johnson. Plus the best backfield in the country, we still struggled running the ball. By expressing past failures on the trenches, it's to remind all it's not to be overlooked and injuries, motivation, chemistry, coaching, guarantees each year we are starting over..
