The team may have imploded if we would have started firing coaches mid-season. Then we would have never been able to hire a coach like Chavis mid-season nor would coaches like Chavis want to come here if he did things like that.
this was always my 2nd concern after game management but i'm wondering if it should creep to #1. good news is, i don't have a #3 really.
I think the team lacks discipline on the field and that is a clear result of knowing you have a coach that isnt gonna jump down your throat for screwing up...these are kids it is ok to put the fear of god into them sometimes and Miles just doesnt do it. And I know its been said but his loyalty to the seniors and upperclassmen is a HUGE fault...there are some players that just have raw talent and need to be played as soon as they get there and I think EVERYONE realizes this with Shepard this year....I can understand the fact that maybe he was not ready to play QB BUT he was averaging 6 to 8 yards a carry and there is NO reason what so ever IF he is not gonna play QB that he should not have been returning kicks OVER Holiday/Jones/Brooks. BUT the biggest complaint I have and this is really weird but it is the HORSESHOE stuck up this dudes ass! I have not seen this much luck since Ric Ocasek hooked up with Paulina Porizkova!! I know sometimes its better to be lucky then good BUT COME ON!!!
biggest complaint about Miles? all the three you mentioned are right on target but the biggest is player development. I feel sorry for the players who were recruited and deserved to compete at a higher level. they will for the most part go on to a pro career if they deserve it and do fine, but they miss out on the thrill of the game at the collegiate level @ the greatest school in the NCAA. There is no subsitute for the feeling you get from winning @ Tiger Stadium, winning a NC and no better fans in the world to play in front of. Those are memories they will not get the full effect of.
I'd like to add his ability to speak coherently in interviews to the list. I'm beginning to think he has an IQ of about 90....seriously. I don't buy the argument that he's speaking a form of coachspeak any more. (And I'm a big supporter and defender of his.) :dis:.
My main complaint is that our players never seem to achieve their potential. They seem to come out and play and get by on their talent, but aren't put in a position to excel. I guess it boils down to lack of player development and not playing to their strengths.
I wonder at times if CLM has the coaches on his headset or an ipod plugged into listening to snoop dog. My disappointment the last two years has definitely been mentoring the guys who give LSU their heart and soul. They make the commitment to the school for 4-5 years of their life and many expect to not only get an education, but be coached to get to the next level. That defines your program year in and year out. It has not shown in many areas, especially on offense. Here's my grades: Miles = B- (Noticed ole piss 1 sec clocking made the CBS plays of the year in the SEC game preview today, but he did somehow get us just 3 loses) Crowton = F+ (beating dead horse) Chevis = A- (Without you we're a .500 team this year) Stud = D- (the obvious) Moffit = B- (Some games the players were falling like flies) Robinson = B+ (DL played well in many games) I'm looking forward to the bowl game. :geaux:
Biggest complaint about Miles is that he isn't Saban or Urban Meyer! How is that for a subject here or on sports talk radio. I am not being serious, no matter what I don't want either coach! I'd take Pete Carroll over these two any day of the week!
