you're reading too much into it. as for the:

"the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race"

if i believe that black people have darker colored skin than white people, is that racism? of course not

    as for the second part:

"especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races:"

now sure, if i look down on black people because they have darker colored skin, that is racism. but if i believe they have darker colored skin without judging them as a person based on their physical characteristics, that's not racism

I stated three facts. This is not racism. You are just a blind homer for Nebraska and the Big-10. You assume all white southerners are racist, but you really don't know shit about it out there in lily-white Nebraska. You just "save" all these black southern athletes by signing them to Nebraska scholarships, while your white Nebraska players are almost all walk-ons.

Just because something is racist doesn't mean it isn't generally true. Nor does it necessarily make the person who said it a racist by itself. Red, I don't know you and I am not calling you or anyone else a racist. My point is when you put everyone in one big pot, some people don't belong there. Not every black person is a great athlete nor are they always better than people of another color.

The population of Nebraska is 1.8 million while the population in Louisiana is 4.6 million. When you factor in Nebraska is only 4.7% black and Louisiana is 32.6% black, you will get more black athletes because the pool to choose from is larger. You will also get more white athletes for the same reason -- a bigger pool to choose from.

My opinion differs from yours. There is no reason to attack me. I am not a blind homer that thinks Nebraska is saving anyone. I am a fan of my state team. When players choose to play for Nebraska I don't see black or white or even care what part of the country they come from. I see scarlet and cream uniforms that have chosen to play here.

My opinion is,.. racism is against individuals, real people being treated unfairly. Knowing that black people from the South are extra good at sports isn't something to be ashamed of. Husker, your political correctness has blinded you.

Doesn't get much lily-whiter than Oregon.

If I said white people are smarter than black people, would that be racist? After all, more whites graduate from College and it's not something to be ashamed of. It's a positive for a group of people and not against any individual. Off course that would be wrong to say. It has nothing to do with the color of skin -- it has to do with environment and opportunity.

Hmm. So you are saying that the blacks from the south are in a different environment and have more athletic opportunity than the whites from the exact same place. Gotcha.

do you really think white people aren't getting the same opportunity to play sports that black people are given? when it comes to something like speed, it's really simple to see who the fastest people are. you can either line up and have them run against each other, or you can time their speeds and compare them to each other. if there is a white guy out there with the speed to be an NFL WR or CB or be a world class Olympic sprinter, do you really think his coaches are going to be like "no no no, i don't care how fast you are, you're not going to get to player WR, CB or be a sprinter, because you're not black?"

how many white people are playing WR or CB in the NFL? how many white people are world class Olympic sprinters?

here's the 25 guys with the fastest times in the 100 meters...4 of the top 5 are from Jamaica, a poor country...
    Usain Bolt, black
    Tyson Gay, black
    Yohan Blake, black
    Asafa Powell, black
    Nesta Carter, black
    Maurice Greene, black
    Justin Gatlin, black
    Steve Mullings, black
    Donovan Bailey, black
    Bruny Surin, black
    Leroy Burrell, black
    Olusoji Fasuba, black
    Mike Rodgers, black
    Richard Thompson, black
    Carl Lewis, black
    Frankie Fredericks, black
    Ato Boldon, black
    Francis Obikwelu, black
    Keston Bledman, black
    Linford Christie, black
    Obadele Thompson, black
    Shawn Crawford, black
    Walter Dix, black
    Ryan Bailey, black
    Michael Frater, black

Do you think that's because white people aren't given the same opportunities to run track that black people are given? look at women compared to men. do you think women aren't given the same opportunities to compete in track and field that men are given? women get the same opportunities, they just have shown that, as a whole, they aren't as athletic as men. it's the same thing with black people compared to white people
