Looks like CFN is starting the no rematch groundswell you're referring to: Scout.com: Should Bama Play For The National Title? We'll see if this picks up steam at ESPN.
Well, it is quite probable that VT will drop a game. ACC teams have a history of doing that. Another point is that it is possible that some voters will hate the idea of a rematch so much that they will drop Bama to four or five. I am pulling for OKST and against VT. I think it would be great to beat Bama again, which I believe we would do because there is no way we could pass worse than we did and now we know their weakness is the option. But I would rather play OKST as it would be nice to beat the Big12 Champs.
IMO, while the talking heads all acknowledge that Bama is the 2nd best team (and some deny 9-6 and think they're the best), my read is that they don't want the rematch. Because of 9-6. They'd accept a rematch if we had won 27-24, but none really saw the beauty of the defensive gem LSU and Bama displayed that night. I'm still getting the impression that they want to see Okie State's offense challenge our D. One went so far yesterday as to point out that OSU runs the same offense as West Virginia, and we know what kind of stats they put out against LSU (they also pointed out that OSU would be hard-pressed to stop our running game). With all that in mind, I have to think that if LSU and OSU win out, OSU jumps Bama on December 3.
