Since the Big 12 is loved by the computers, how important is it for Ga to beat Ga Tech and SC to beat Clemson. Obviously a win improves the SEC and a loss injures, but will it be enough to hurt/help Ok St for the #2 spot.:tigerhead
Those games are irrelevant for Oklahoma State. Biggest games for Okie State: 1. Stanford losing to Notre Dame (Okie State moves up without even playing) 2. VTech losing to Virginia (Okie State moves up without even playing) 3. Oklahoma beating Iowa State (Oklahoma simply can't lose and drop any further) 4. Arkansas losing to LSU (Bama's best win) 5. Penn State losing to Wisconsin (Bama's 2nd best win) 6. Oklahoma State needs to thrash Oklahoma I really think Okie State needs to be sitting at #3 in the human polls BEFORE they play Oklahoma next week. Voters get to look at their ballot and make that decision. If Okie State is still sitting at only #5, it's over. Way over. The toughest hurdle is VTech losing to Virginia. The game is at Virginia, so there is hope. And Virginia Tech just has not been that impressive this season. Virginia is 8-3 and beat Miami, FSU and Georgia Tech, they are nowhere near a pushover. And the winner goes to the ACC Championship game. Biggest game in Virginia history I would have to believe. Obviously Stanford could still lose to Arizona State (likely PAC 12 CG opponent) and VTech lose to Clemson, but psychologically the voters need to see Okie State sitting at 3 in order to justify moving them up to #2 ahead of Bama.
to me, the only downside of ou losing is that osu needs to win that game and would have been better for them to be a higher ranked team. big if, but who knows the way both are playing. still a toss up, imo.
Maybe not the biggest I believe a bigger game was when Tiki and Ronde played for Virginia and Dunn played for FSU. I also think FSU was ranked #3 at the time.
Izzy, if the Pokes win the Big 12 while Bama sits at home do you think it is almost a lock for them to make the NCG, given that they are already #2 in the computers?
Far from it. Alabama is nearly a lock as it stands. That's why I listed those 6 games of major importance. If all that happens, LSU is playing Oklahoma State. If Stanford wins out, it's over. If VTech wins out, it's over. Imagine 3 teams worthy of playing LSU (VTech, Stanford and Okie State), all 3 of which won their conferences. The voters certainly won't be able to come to a consensus as to who to put ahead of Bama, and that's figuring only a portion are willing to even consider it at all.
I don't have a pulse on it. I don't feel that at this moment. Listen closely to the talking heads. Unfortunately, that's the way the vote is going to go most likely. If we don't hear a groundswell of support for a non SEC team playing LSU for the BCS title, then it's definitely going to be an almost impossible uphill climb.
