I was watching espnu's inside college football last night when one of the host's actually said that the big 12 conference was a better conference than the sec this year!! What are your thoughts on that? Only one of the five host said different, he said all I have to say is SEC=last fave national champs.
I'd say LSU/Bama could beat anyone in the big 12. The pigs could probably make a game out of it with either OU/osu pretty even at least. After that it is mish mash IMO. Missouri is probably not all bad and I'd say they could beat the UK's, and ole miss's of the SEC. Baylor can score but can't stop anyone, Kansas is just turrible, K state can score but can't stop anyone. See a theme developing here. SEC top 2 > Big 12 top 2. Advantage SEC but slightly.
Maybe their mediocre teams are less mediocre than ours. If they want to focus on that rather than the fact that 3 SEC teams are in the top 6, it just shows how ignorant they are.
They're just trying to stir the pot. Don't listen to any of those idiots' opinions because they all have agendas. Every conference has their upper tier and bottom tier teams....the SEC's upper tier would destroy the big12's upper tier. That's it. Argument over, case closed. Lower tier teams are seat fillers trying to get paid.
It's because of the SEC East. Tennessee has been mediocre at best for awhile, Florida has had 2 straight years of mediocrity, Auburn is mediocre, Georgia I would say now, is an above average team, and South Carolina is an above average team, barely but only because of the loss of Lattimore, and Alshon Jeffery has been a no show all year. The West is still easily the best in all of college football. The funny thing is, the other night on College Football Final on ESPN, Holtz and May were debating about the best 1 loss team in the country. Their choices were, Alabama, Oregon, OU, Arkansas, and Clemson. After Thanksgiving LSU will have beaten 3 of those teams, and of OSU loses will have an opportunity to beat 4 possibly. The SEC is King. Long live the King.
Well I ranked the conferences top to bottom and matched them up. (dropped OM and UK as big 12 only has 10 teams). I figure SEC wins 8 Big 12 wins 2: LSU vs OSU – MNC game? Advantage SEC Bama vs OU – Bama easily SEC AK vs K State – KSU sucks, Arky is pretty good SEC Georgia vs Texas – Close one but Texas still isn’t back SEC SC vs Baylor – Baylor has no D SEC Auburn vs Mizzou – Another close one. I think Auburn has more talent SEC Florida vs A&M – Aggies blow it in the 3rd QTR SEC Vandy vs TT – TT is a jackal and hid team but shows up Big 12 Miss St vs Iowa St – Who cares? Big 12 UT vs Kansas – Again who cares? Kanasa is really bad so SEC This is just based on my predictions but I can't see much room to argue on any of these. Maybe Auburn Mizzou?
Not sure about Iowa State being better than Mississipps State. Vandy being worse than Texas Tech is a toss up, but I tend to agree with you.
Until we see the bowl game records, I tend to agree that talking heads have to come up with something, and not all talking heads live in SEC country, or have SEC alumnus status, so you tend to get this which conference is better stuff. Whether it's the Pac-12 getting hyped or the Big-12 getting hyped it seems to be an every year discussion. That said, I still tend to think that the SEC is better than the Big 12, despite the talk. What folks fail to realize is that the quality of athlete still tends to be better in the SEC bar none. What's hurting us the most is the "optics" of certain teams being down... Tennessee, Florida being prime, and schools like maybe Miss St underachieving. But, on the other hand, Vandy is actually MORE competitive this year. And, let's not forget SEC teams are beating up on each other, so are Tennessee/UF really that bad (both schools suffered QB injuries as well). Put Texas A&M up against Miss St, and I still like Miss St. Put Iowa State up against Tennessee, I still like Tenn. It's the issue of conference teams playing against their own conference and they "seemingly" look good in the Big 12, b/c people are scoring, scores are generally tight, the good teams get "upset" by the weaker teams, and the league looks competitive. Same could be said about Stanford, Cal or ASU in the Pac 12. When they actually have to match up with the athletes in the SEC on the same field, SEC "surprises" everyone in the end....
