Oklahoma State and Texas Tech lose in bowl games. Texas should have lost to Ohio State and looked pretty average against a pretty feeble opponent. If OU loses to Florida, and especially if they lose big, then all hell will break lose about the Big 12 being the biggest fraud of a conference in a very long time.
I don't think they lose big, you can read more about my opinion in my thread about the Sooner offense as I refer to the Big 12 as the Weak 12. I think the big 12 is overrated, the Pac 10 IMHO was probably the stronger conference when compared to the big 12 and big 10 conferences.
I don't think they're a fraud but I don't think they caught up to the SEC. It appeared they were going to rival the SEC but I think their weak defenses have been exposed as the reason their offenses have been off the charts. Top to bottom...the SEC is still the strongest and most balanced. SURPRISE :hihi:
Well the prevailing thought is the Big 12 has been a much better conference than the SEC this season. So in most people's minds, especially those that had such high regards for this conference will have to rethink the whole thing once again, and come to the inevitable conclusion that the SEC is still the best. Even this year.
everyone outside of the big12 has already acknowledged this. no. its not a bigger fraud than the big 10/11 but everyone has pretty much conceded the fact its not near as good as we all thought for the entire regular season. and the sec is better than thought. this happens all the time it seems. remember when UF won the NC a couple years back in football and in basketball. everyone including the national media claimed it was a down year in both sports for the sec. yet 3 sec team made it to the sweet 16 or something and the bowl teams fared well. i think the SEC (in football) improves by being more tested throughout a grueling season in comparison to other conferences. so when it looks like we are average, many times it pays off in the end when facing lesser tested teams. i mean how else do you explain ole miss, vandi and kentucky all coming from behind and winning. its just too bad the sec and pac 10 didnt settle it on the field.
Isn't that always the case? Btw, the last line is all I could read because it was closest to the picture!
You can thank archaic bowl tradition for that. One of the reasons the bowl system has to go is that we don't have any traditional tie-ins with that conference. The Rose Bowl had a chance to match up LSU and USC in 2006, which would have made them mountains more money than the USC-Michigan Rose Bowl traditional tie in they ended up with.
not exactly. the Rose couldn't touch an SEC school unless the Sugar turned them down 1st. Sugar wasn't turning down LSU.
