LOL... yup, that's it... our mediocre Hawkeyes are 3-1 against the SEC since Ferentz arrived.... you must be speaking of the OSU and their sucky record... the rest of the Big Ten plays the SEC just fine in this new decade.
The SEC is a great conference.... but last year, except for Florida's Ole Miss game, the Gators beat the rest of the SEC teams by a combined score of 340-89... so, although you can claim you were in their conference, it's hard to claim you were in their league. Nobody was, as it turned out, right?

Now back to Les... he needs to step it up this year or the wolves will howl.

thats great. still hanging your (les) hat on that are you? that and a bowl of grits will get you an appearance in the alamo bowl again. you finished 8th, 5th and 4th the last 3 years respectively yet you're chirping. didnt even make a bowl 2 years ago even though theres 60 of them.

i guess 6-6 and 6-7 is something to be proud of in a below-average conference. certainly worthy of a 7 yr extension in iowa i suppose.

We had a bad run with OL injuries and an over-hyped qb for two years, but things are back on track.

    Thanks for asking....:hihi:

are you paying ferentz for 8th 5th and 4th? what are your expectations in hawkeye land at 3 mill per year. in a down conference.

Again, OSU hasn't shown up for two championship games... the only thing that saves face for them is Oklahoma's big game record.

This down conference stuff is truly laughable at some point. Although tOSU has had their woes, the rest of the Big Ten is 14-13 against the mighty SEC since 2000. How does that make us a mediocre conference?

As mentioned, excepting the Ole Miss game, Florida outscored the rest of the SEC last year, 340-89. Bama got blown out by Utah... Kudos to the Gators, I guess, as a team. Didn't say all that much for the conference.

On to Ferentz... yes, we expect to compete for the conference crown. He has three Top Ten finishes this decade and two top 25 and we will compete well this year, although we have PSU, OSU, MSU and Wisconsin on the road. The KF style of play keeps most games close... and with our D... and a great OL returning, I like our chances.

And if you're still upset that we extended KF through 2015, you should send your complaint to our AD. I think it had something to do with being able to tell recruits he would be under contract during their 4 to 5 years at Iowa.

Say Hawk, can you get your offense to perform a touchdown better this year?

If you can then I'll put your Hawkeyes ahead of OSU and PSU for the Big10_11 title this fall. Actually, I rank your defense slightly better than either of the Ohio or Penn teams.

I have multiple rose bushes in my rather large garden of 4800 sf. What color are you predicting/ordering for Jan 2010?

LOL.... I paid a small ransom to stubhub for my tickets to the @ Penn State game, September 26.... it's their nationally televised "white out" night game.... the closest hotel I could get into is 40 miles away... alas... but we've handled Penn State well under Ferentz... and should we walk out of there with a win.... I'd start thinking about roses, the red ones, btw.
This is going to be one great football season... for all the conferences... the number of teams that could go either 10-2 or 8-4, depending on a bounce or call, is as "deep" as it's ever been, imo.

For you guys... Here's to happy bounces this year!!

Good Luck to my favorite SEC team.

Wait, are we really arguing Big 10 vs SEC football? Really?

they are the face of your conference. you go face down with them when it happens, unfortunately. only way that changes is to beat them and represent it yourself. you can win all the liberty bowls you want but no one cares or remembers it. no i dont wanna discuss any cap one bowls.

we've been through this. the big 10 simply hasnt been on par with the elite. youre having a hard time accepting this.

good for us though. after running through the gamut of an SEC schedule, playing the best team in the big 10 for the national title usually ends up being the easiest game.

you keep on keeping on. the sec is still the top conference in the land, has won the last 3 national championships and 4 of the last 6. LSU has 2 of those. I dont think we need UF carrying our jock. conversely, OSU is carrying the Big 10s jock yet is still winless in postseason against the sec. 0-9 is it?

you fellas beat OSU and win the conference if you want to change the perception. til then, you keep telling yourself how theres really no difference.

3 mill dont buy what it used to i suppose. hes lost 2 of his last 3 bowl games and missed going to one altogether.

im pretty happy about it even though its tough knowing we are losing recruits flocking into iowa city on that news.

i think a reason why the big 10s record is so bloated with (as you say) wins against SEC is because you have higher ranked big 10 teams playing (possibly) unranked SEC teams. just speculation, but if someone has the time to dig up all of those games, i bet it would be interesting to see.
