Clair can you inform us on what is going on with the Yao thing now. I caught only a second of it on ESPN. Were they saying that Yao could make it back 4 months from now but wont because he and the Rockets want him to participate in the Olympics with the China team?
you got it a little tongue-tied... He can be back in 4 months. But 4 months from now is July... the season is very much over. The Rockets don't want him to play in the Olympics... but very much know that won't happen.
14 in a row. 2nd straight 20+ point with without Yao. This team isn't going anywhere. 6 guys in double-figures, 5 guys with 13+ points.
I wanna see what happens to this team after they finally lose. That will tell us everything. They could easily go into a funk, although the way they are playing, it sure isn't likely.
they just have a full arsenal of weapons and to be honest, there isn't room for a dominant post player in what Rick Adelman's system is designed for. If this run continues, it will be Yao's last season in Houston. We were 20-12 without him last year. 2-0 without him this year, and frankly don't look to be missing a beat. Why not use the 20 mill a year he makes on someone who can actually help the team? It's early, though. You're right. They need to keep up the solid play. I think they will, though. There won't ever be a night where all 8 scorers are cold at the same time.
Rick Adelman is a very very good coach, btw. He might be the actual difference maker than what has happened in years past.
agree 1,000,000,000,000,000%.. All Van Gundy cared about is defense, and that is fine and dandy, but you need to be able to score. When you face a guy like Kobe or a guy like Iverson, they will get their team their points 4 out of 7 games. You need to be able to score. Rick also actually believes in playing rookies and young players. Where would this team be without Landry, Scola and Brooks? They all wouldn't have sniffed the court at all under JVG.
