My first of the year! Thanks! Listen, not trying to win a trophy. This was a good and rational discussion before we were told not to jinx the team by saying they were having a phenomonal year. Just let LSU fans on an LSU fan message board have good and rational discussion about LSU football, and all will be good. You seem to be a knowledgeable poster, and I'd love to hear your input relative to (<---Saban-esque, heh?) the accomplishments of this team so far as compared to great CFB teams of the past. I promise you, talking about the success of the 2011 LSU Tigers football team to this point will have no effect on the outcome of the big game yet to come...and it's something to pass the (eternity) time until January 9.
How did we stray from the topic? All I asked was, "Is this the best team in LSU history?" Not the best team in the history of CF or whether this discussion will jinx the team (which is laughable). The fact that we are undefeated in the regular season puts this team up for discussion as the best. Some will say that it all depends on Jan 9th, but I say they have accomplished this feat already. Their schedule helped determine that fact. Having to play an extra game in the SEC championship (which the 1958 team did not play) and the fact that we have to play a team we previously beat on their home field in a bowl game, removes all doubt that this team is our best. A victory on the 9th would put this team in the discussion for best team all time in college football. Agree or disagree?:geaux:
Great topic you started! Yes, IMO this is the best team in LSU history. The topic got derailed because this team is so good, many of us started pointing out that, not only is this the best LSU team, but it deserves to be in the conversation of best CFB teams ever. I agree with or without Jan 9, this is the best LSU team. However, without a W on Jan 9, it will be removed from the conversation of best CFB teams. The good thing is, our discussion will have no effect on the outcome on Jan 9th. :thumb:
I wish it would have been Okie St because we would blow them out. They don't have a very good defense. I still say this is the best LSU team to date. A victory on the 9th would put us up for the best ever in the college game.
