In the context of the thread...the "Miles Era"...has Tubbs won it? I think '05 was Richt...over LSU and Miles. Last year was Meyer...over Arkansas. Now if you count DIVISION titles, fine...but Miles has TWO of those. I don't think you meant that, though.

    It's getting kinda confusing now...but I'll try.

:eek:lefire: isn't one of the emoticons here for no reason. Traditionally, I'd have to say Ole Mess.

Recent history? Auburn...just based on the "on the field" battles that have resulted in "instant classics" over the past 10-15 years...plus the "Earthquake Game" in 1987.

Of course, I guess now you have to throw &*%^$#@ Alabama into the mix.

    Take your pick.:thumb:

ok ill stick with the basics. which of the above has never won a conference and/or national championship on any team?

tubby went undefeated so obviously he won the conference.

the new schmuck at boise won his power conference because he was in that bcs bowl and beat OU.

stoops, meyer, lil petey, mack and tressell each have a NC. richt and r. rod have a conference title or 3.

doesnt make much sense in comparing records til you have at least a title of some sort to show for it.

then you can belong in the discussion of relevance and national power. otherwise its like being the smartest gump in alabama yet you still have to leave the state at some point.

OK...stick with the basics if you will. But the thread is about the Miles Era, and MY comments about the time frame from 2000-present is not about Miles, it's about LSU. If we're talking about the Miles era, then no...Tubbs and AU have nothing. If we're talking about the time frame I referenced...and LSU...we have two SECC's, and one MNC.

If you're just talking about Miles accomplishments during his tenure, then I see your point. But you can't include Tubbs championship if that's what you're talking about...see MY point?

nick has 2 secc's and 1 nc since we are referring to coaches specifically.

I was simply pointing out of all the ones listed only one has a total of zero in any timespan. therefore his record is somewhat irrelevant to most of the nation until shown otherwise.

therefore we wont be viewed as the USC's/OU's etc til Miles "proves himself" as a championship caliber coach. unfair? somewhat.

He certainly needs it to lose the "winning with nick saban's recruits" moniker.

til then we will be viewed as the most talented team to have never won a title of any sort.

I said I see your point...I was just making a different point. Apparently, I should've started a totally different thread about my discussion with my Bama friend.

Again, my point was that LSU is one of the premier programs...based on the timeframe I entered into the equation. The thread title however, is about the Miles era. It really is as basic as it can get.

FWIW, not only do I see your point, I AGREE with you...or at least understand what you're saying. We're just not talking about the same thing...that's all.:thumb:

I do agree with Tirk on winning a championship of some sort. If he wins the next 2 and loses the SEC CG and beats the hell out of a bowl opponent, he will have an obviously impressive 34-6 record. But he will have no championships to show for it. He would be better off, in this regard, to win the SEC CG and lose some other game, as crazy as that sounds.

I agree with Tirk, too...on that point. My first post though was more about  as a program since 2000 or 2001...not about any coach. Sorry I hijacked your thread, but I felt it was close to the discussion I mentioned with my Bama friend...so I threw it into the fray.
