    1. Ohio State............ 32-4
    2. W. Virginia............ 30-4
    3. Texas.................. 32-5
    4. LSU.................... 31-5
    ... USC.................... 31-5
    ... Boise St............... 31-5
    7. Florida................. 29-7
    8. Oklahoma.............. 28-8
    9. Georgia................. 27-9
    ...Auburn.................. 27-9

If Ohio State and WVU loses 1 game, the best they can finish after this season is 33-5. Texas can finish at 34-5. If LSU wins out, they finish at 35-5. USC and Boise State can finish at 34-5.

    2 Big 12's, 1 Big 10, 1 Big East, 1 PAC 10, 1 joke (Boise), and 4 SEC's...

doesn't that just say something about how much better the SEC is compared to everyone else? That in a list of 10 you have:

    Every other conference combined: 6
    SEC: 4

I said this in the past, and I'll say it again, if there would be an All-Star game at year's end between the SEC's All-Stars and the rest of the nation's all-stars, I think on some years, the SEC would either win or keep the game close.

in the other conferences, you may have to team with Boston College or Kansas or Missouri or Oregon, teams who are having dominant SEASONS.

in the SEC, you have to contend with teams who have dominant PROGRAMS...

all the folks who hate on the SEC (I can think of one talking-head PAC 10 tool on FSN (I forget his name), but he always hates on the SEC) are misguided

Edit: also interesting is that in the Miles era, LSU is 4-3 against the big boys on the list they have played, holding an 0-1 mark against Georgia and 2-1 marks against Florida and Auburn.

Does the Miles era include his head coaching stint at OSU?

    Since he began at LSU.

It's just a thread to show just how impressive a start he has had here at LSU and has brought us from a perenially "good" team under Saban to a perennial "powerhouse".

LSU has finished #6 and #3 in the BCS the first 2 years under Miles (very nearly #5 and #2, respectively). And of course we have a legit shot at finishing #1 this season, but most certainly looking at a top 5 finish if it wins it's bowl game (should we lose in the SEC CG).

He has had an excellent start at LSU.

    On another topic.......................

I really don't understand the HATE for Saban.

He took an opportunity to coach in the NFL.

    Who wouldn't jump at that.

I know that most of us would.

It turns out that it doesn't fair to well for him.

He obviously can't come back to LSU, so he takes the Alabama job.

I would think that you guys would wish him well except when you play against Alabama.

    That's just my opinion.

it's just the classless way in which he left...

saying he was so happy at LSU, blah, blah, blah...

then announcing on XMas day, to further break everyone's hearts...

then the way the bowl game ended, etc... it's a bunch of things.

he was not hated when he coached for the Dolphins, as he was cheered in Tiger Stadium when he played the Saints the Katrina year.

He was just hated when he said over and over again he wasn't going to Alabama and then did anyway.

Miles is doing a tremendous job. I love our coach.

Saban did a tremendous job. I love what he did for LSU.

Miles: Don't leave... We love you!

    Saban: Good luck!

I would much rather have an ex-coach that left for the best job in football than one who was fired in disgrace.

Proud of Saban! Very proud of Miles...

    Geaux Tigers!

    BCS Champions during Miles era
    USC
    Florida

SEC Div Champions during Miles era
    LSU
    Georgia
    Arkansas
    Florida

    SEC Champions during Miles era
    Florida
    Georgia

If Miles adds an LSU SEC Champion and National Champion to that list, what he'll have accomplished will be even more amazing and hopefully, recognized by all.

Doesn't it show just the opposite. If SEC teams have the best records, that means less loses. If SEC teams have "More wins", that indicates less "Depth".

I think the SEC gets a lot of props and most recognize it is the strongest conference. In fact, I think the perceived disparity isn't as big as it is credited for being with many. When MSU beats Alabama it's cause "We're a deep conference" but when Oregon beats Az St. it's cause "The PAC is weak". :hihi:

Undefeated league seasons in the BCS era:
    ACC: 2
    Big East: 5
    Big 10: 3
    Big 12: 3
    Pac-10: 3
    SEC: 2

You can see that there's not much difference, among conferences, in the # of teams being undefeated in the BCS era (Outside the Big East)

As far as the SEC, per se, check this:
SEC teams who've gone undefeated in conference in the last 15 years:

    92 bama - undefeated
    93 auburn - undefeated
    94 florida - undefeated
    95 florida - undefeated
    98 tenn - undefeated
    04 auburn- undefeated
This is all in conference play. Both florida teams lost to an out of conference team (nebraska in 94, FSU in 95)

Despite what golden boy Lienart said in the postgame interview, Texas won that game, not USC.
