Realized this morning that we were halfway through our schedule and thinking how different it has played out than I thought. I thought for sure that Oregon would have been the best offense we played against. But I gotta give the Best Offense award to West Virginia by far.

As far as defense, Miss State is the only team to hold us under 30 points. So they are the Best Defense we have faced in the first half. I sure thought that Florida would have the honor if you would have asked me in August. Of course, Bama will take that spot in three weeks. Or will the combo of Ware on the ground and JLee thru the air be too much for them to handle??

Unfortunately the best offense and defense we have to face are on the yet to be played part of the schedule. Arkansas has the ability to really put up some points. Buma has one hell of a D. I still think Oregon had the best O we faced even though WVU put up good numbers. I'm not sure we have seen a top notch D yet.

I think our O-Line is going to be the difference. Bama's D hasn't see an O-Line like ours. Like I said in another thread ... AR is the best O they've seen, and their O-Line is terrible .. I mean, flat out terrible. Tyler Wilson should file a law suit for assault and battery against his O-Line they way they let him get beat up every game.

BTW ...I grew up in Plano, TX ... back when we moved their in '66, place only had a population of just 5900!!!! Hard to believe when I go back to visit mom these days. I was in the last class at PSHS before they opened up PESH on the east side.

Anyway .. don't know how you stand the place now-a-days. Toooo many peeps.

Plano has certainly changed since the 60's--from 5900 residents to 300,000 in just 40 years. And of course, taking into account all of Collin County, there are over 500,000 residents with an eventual projection to 1,000,000.

But Plano is built-out. Nowadays, it's PSHS in the middle (still the best, in my opinion), PESH on the eastside, and PWSH on the snobby westside. Each school graduates 1000-1200 students a year. The middle school where I teach has 1000 kids in 6-8. You didn't happen to go to Wilson, did you? It opened in 1970.

Wilson ... HA .. hadn't thought of that school in years. .. But no, I went to Memorial, Bowman, Williams, PSHS [way back before it became the low-rent district]. The only part of the West Side of Plano that existed when we moved their was the square between Plano Pkwy (which used to be called Dallas North Pkwy), Custer, 544, and 75. ... and a small chunk on the north side of 544 than had an appartment complex and Shell Park [The Appt Complex has since been torn down and replaced with shopping centers ... and I don't know if Shell Park is still their or not .. or maybe it was called Harrington Park .. can't remeber ... old age u know] It used to be called Dallas North Area [too snobby to consider themselves Plano back then]. We loved it, they had a Swimming Pool shaped like Texas with an island in the middle. ... I watched a whole lot of schools be built ... Wilson, Vines, Haggard, PSHS ...

I used to go to the Plano High School games back when Williams was the high school. We lived in what was known then as Briarwood Estates, which was the east bounary of the town before Los Rios was built. Park Blvd ended at Rigsby and turned into a dirt road than stopped at the creek.

Wow ... stroll down memory lane. The place was magical back then. I could fill up a page with all the things that used to exists. Dang this is making me feel old ..

Maybe we did play conservative against WV, but it just seemed like we could not stop them in the third quarter. Oregon O never got on track and scared me. Clearly, they are scoring lots and lots of points since playing us though.

onceanlsufan -- You beat me to Plano by 25 years. I can imagine and have heard of the growth and change. But I travel a ton and spend time in NYC/LA/SF. So Plano seems spread out when I get home.

Agreed on ARK and AL being the best offense and defense we see all year.

To date I'd have to say WV for offense and I guess Miss St. for defense. Although I haven't been impressed with any defense we've played so far this year.

Oregon/WVU would be a toss up for offense. Bulldogs D seemed the best we faced so far, but conservative play calling and maybe a little off game by the offense. Hope thats the last one.:tigereye:

I've taught at Wilson for the past 15 years and seen the school, itself, go through many changes in that time--both in demographics and in two multi-million dollar renovations. One thing Plano ISD does very well is keeping up their facilities, giving schools major renovations every 10 years.

The Texas Pool is still there.
