Yes, that line was huge and had a lot of NFL talent but most of his long runs came from him breaking tackles because he definitely wasn't the fastest back we had

That was when freshmen couldn't play, but he was the best of any class on the team, in the conference and maybe in the nation. I had the priviledge of seeing him all 4 years and he was a one man team. Until his last year his team mates were slow white guys who couldn't jump or shoot. Other teams would triple team him and he still made them look like fools. He wasn't all about scoring and was one of the better passers and did things in the no look misdirection area that anticipated Magic Johnson et al. His assist tallies would have been much higher if the rest of the guys could catch & shoot.

I also have to say Shaq & Stanley Roberts were up there as freshmen.

In football there is no way to compare freshmen play before they were eligible. Dalton, Hodson, Tyrann and all mentioned were pretty stout. Also Andrew Whitworth was pretty valuable starting at left tackle as a freshman.

    A. J. Duhe started game one at DT as a Freshman and played four years as a starter. All-SEC at LSU and rookie of the year and All-Pro for Miami in the NFL.

Justin Vincent's freshman year was pretty darn special. Because he played such a large role in a national championship season, I go with him.

i wouldnt have thought of this but Id say this is the winner. and jemmer wished he had cj's pull-up jumper ( I know you meant distance but still).

chris jackson may have been the quickest point guard ive seen. it was like he had tourettes on speed. the former was true.

he was so good as a freshman I dont think he could have improved much offensively, if any. as good and as fast as he looked on film, multiply that by 10 or so. was probably the closest Ill get to seeing someone like pete in his heyday who could score at will.

best freshman season ever in football was:

    tyrann mathieu.

He is a great choice also but didn't he only play half a season his freshman campaign, after Shy Carey and Joe Addai got hurt? I think he had over 700 yards and was the SEC championship game MVP and the National Championship game MVP. So he is a great choice for such a short time that he played his first year.

1001 yards, but yeah the first half was Addai and Carey. The second half was Vincent and Broussard.
